Elise called Touya some time later, and together with Kuon, the two revealed the information that they had gathered on the Wadatsumi Incident. They learned about the cooperation between the Takamagahara Organization and the Magic Guild, and how the Ten Sages were indirectly responsible for the Wadatsumi Incident as they tried to forcefully open the gate to the Boundary. During this call, they heard the voice of Ringo Akagi, formerly known as Zwei of the Ten Sages. Kuon eventually returned to Shin Yokozaki with Elise. Within the Restricted Ward, Touya would eventually come across a Union named Freaks. This Union was too strong for Touya, Mei, Kuon, and Elise, and managed to kill them all. Es, who watched silently from within the World of Tsukuyomi, could not let them die in vain. She rewound time, but without a variable factor, the event was always destined to happen again and again. This changed when [[Konoe A. Time rewound, Kuon and Elise had a mission in Japan. The leaders of the Magic Guild had been murdered, likely by a Union which was tracked to Shin Yokozaki. They first, at Elise's insistence, visited Akihabara in Tokyo before returning to Shin Yokozaki City. The reunited with Touya, Hinata, and Es. Unfortunately, their memories were still altered, so they were unable to remember who exactly Es was. They also revealed to Touya that Ringo was Zwei, shocking him. The pair of mages were invited to a welcome party for Es which would occur the following day, and they accepted before returning to their hotel. | |||
At the welcoming party, Kuon and Elise found themselves being teased by Mei, who had caught them reading manga in Akihabara instead of focusing on their mission. In the evening, neither Kuon nor Elise were able to contact Mei or Touya. They ran to the Restricted Ward and saw them battling against Freaks while Es watched. Kuon launched several fire spells which saved Mei from a potentially deadly slash. The mages combined their efforts to create two Soul Direction spells, but this failed to stop the Union. In retaliation, Freaks activated his New Testament Grimoire and began to drain the life-force from everyone present. Es, having activated her powers, was able to stop this. Mei regained consciousness and the three magic users bombarded Freaks with as many spells as they could. Kuon was born in Ishana, her parents being an unnamed mother and Lord Stroheim; she also has a half-brother, Sechs. She has aspired to be one of the Ten Sages since a young age, wanting to be able to protect Ishana with her brother.
Embryo Incident
Code: Embryo, Lost: Memories
Around two hours after Es saved Touya Kagari from Goro Joizumi, Kuon arrived in the Restricted Ward searching for something. She claimed that the situation was different and she needed to expand her search. [1]
While following her enemy-tracking ward, she came across Akira Kamewari being accosted by thugs, including Akio Osafune. When one of them tried to attack her she effortlessly threw him and knocked the others out. Akio attacked her with his Drive before running off. Touya and Es then arrived but she quickly left. Later that night, she saw Touya and Es going off to search for Akio and decided to follow them. [2]
Kuon arrived at the Restricted Ward to save Touya and Es by destroying a giant steel tower Akio was about to throw at them with her Fire magic. She then told Es where Akio was so she could subdue him and introduced herself to Touya. Touya explained to her about his abilities and his connection to the Mitsurugi Agency, with Kuon expressing disbelief. Once Drei arrived, she told him to surrender and return to Ishana but he refused. Kuon said she'd make him return by force, revealing that she had been given permission to use the Sealed Spear: Izayoi. Drei warned her about the price of using the Izayoi and told her to return to Ishana, something Kuon refused to do. Once Acht arrived to collect Akio, Kuon demanded to know where Sechs was, but Acht refused to answer.
The next morning, Touya found Kuon in the Himezuru residence and she explained that she had gotten permission from the Mitsurugi Agency to protect Touya and from Yuki Himezuru to stay with them. She also was the one who carried Touya home the night before. Touya asked to speak to Kuon alone so Hinata Himezuru took Es with her. Kuon explained to him about Mages and the Ten Sages and told Touya that the reason they were targeting probably had something to do with the Grimoire, but Touya claimed he didn't have it. Kuon didn't believe he's lying but said the Ten Sages wouldn't be targeting him on a whim. At Hakuo North Academy, she transferred into Touya's class. [3]
While having lunch, Kuon complained about Hinata putting shitake mushrooms in the lunch she prepared for Kuon, causing her to get into an argument with Akira. Kuon called Touya and Es to the roof and told them about the Ten Sages and the Origin of the Grimoire. When Kuon asked why Touya was working with the Mitsurugi Agency he explained his history with the Wadatsumi Incident - that he was one of the few survivors and had no memories before the event and about the strange dream he'd been having. Furthermore, since his mother was in charge of the experiment that caused the Union outbreak, Touya felt it was his responsibility to help fix the problem. Kuon then promised to look into Ishana's database for information on the Grimoire.
That night upon seeing Touya came back injured, Kuon inquired about his encounter with Ripper. Kuon then told Touya about Code: Embryo and that the Wadatsumi Incident and Grimoire were linked. [4]
The next day, Kuon recalled receiving her mission from the Magic Guild. They said she'd be made a Ten Sage if she completed the mission but she refused, saying it would be disgraceful to receive the title that way. She thought to herself that she needed to find Sechs to ask him why he did what he did. She then received a text from her mother, who told her she supported Kuon but wanted her to stay safe. Kuon apologized for making her worry and promised to be home soon. When she returned to the Himezuru residence, she apologized to Touya for missing school and making him worry. At the pool the next day, she told Touya about her desire to become one of the Ten Sages and that he should exercise more to be a man. Afterwards, Kuon tried to introduce herself to Mei Amanohokosaka but quickly got angry at Mei's insulting and belittling attitude.
On the school roof at lunch, she asked Touya if he liked anime. She told him that she watches it because she has a friend, Elise von Klagen, who was a huge fan.
At the Himezuru residence, she overheard Es telling Touya about the series of deaths caused by Gainart episodes and revealed to them that it was caused by one of the Ten Sages since it matched a death that happened in Ishana. She then asked Touya and Es for their assistance in finding the Ten Sages, which they agreed to. She took them to where she first found Akira and Akio. She told them that she was following the wards the Ten Sages created in an attempt to find their hideout. To do this she cast a spell on Touya and Es that would let them detect certain types of magic. While tracking the wards, Touya asked why only Kuon was sent to track down the Ten Sages so she explained that generally people aren't allowed to leave Ishana to prevent information on magic from getting to the outside world. She said there was a special reason she specifically was chosen but refused to tell him why that is. She also told him about the Sealed Spear: Izayoi and Legacy Weapons. Finding the last ward at the docks, the three encountered Sechs. When Kuon demanded to know why he betrayed the Magic Guild, Sechs said it's because it was all meaningless and that the world was incomplete. Sechs then asked Kuon what she desired, to which she replies that she just wanted him to come back to Ishana with her, revealing to Touya and Es that Sechs was her older brother. Sechs told Kuon that she should come with him if she wanted to know why he changed and was searching for the Grimoire but Touya asked Sechs if he was a Union and the one turning others into Unions, which Sechs confirmed. Kuon asked if he was the one who killed their father but Sechs says “that person” wasn't fit to be a vessel and it had no more meaning than that. He asked Kuon what sins he had committed, claiming that there is no such thing as death, he was simply returning people to the seithr they came from. He rejected Kuon's claim that he had been corrupted by becoming a Union; saying he spoke with the crystal and attempted to show her the “truth” by activating his Drive but Touya got in his way. After Sechs left, despite being in pain from Sechs's attack, Kuon asked Touya to give her some time alone. [5]
Kuon arrived at the Himezuru Residence to find Elise waiting outside and asked what she was doing there. Elise explained that she was sent to review Kuon's performance and take her home if it was inadequate but Kuon refused, telling Elise to go home. Elise tried to get Touya and Hinata to admit that Kuon was being a burden to them to make her leave but it failed. Kuon said that Elise was just trying to get back into her life while Elise insisted that she genuinely cared about her. Kuon countered by revealing that Elise became Kuon's roommate by telling her RA that Kuon was trouble to get herself assigned to look after Kuon. Elise then told everyone the real reason she wanted to be with Kuon, that she's in love with Kuon, which embarrassed Kuon greatly and convinced Hinata to let Elise stay the night. Kuon came to speak with Touya and he asked her if the Magic Guild drove the Amanohokosaka clan to ruin, with Kuon concluding that it was probably true. She then asked Touya to go shopping with her and Elise since it would supposedly make Elise consider returning to Ishana. Touya was initially hesitant because it seemed pointless but Kuon convinced him it would be best if Elise left soon.
The next day, she and Elise went on a shopping spree, forcing Touya to carry their stuff. After they finished, Elise suggested they go to a nearby café. They were then approached by Hinata, who was out shopping with Akira. Upon figuring out that Akira had a crush on Hinata and was trying to get her help in buying a gift for her, she and Elise dragged Touya away to leave the two alone. At the café, they spotted Acht. Acht offered Kuon a seat so they could chat but Kuon didn't want to speak with her so Acht asked her to leave. Elise told Acht that the rogue Ten Sages had been marked for death and a bounty hunter has been hired to eliminate them. Kuon demanded to know why Elise didn't tell her this, but Elise said if she did Kuon would have been even more determined to stay. Once Acht revealed she was a Union, Kuon attacked her with Fire magic, damaging the café, but Acht was unaffected. Acht prepared to attack with Ice magic but stopped once she saw Akira's reaction to Hinata running to Touya. Acht then forced Kuon to pay for the damages and left. Kuon said there's no way she could leave after being humiliated like that. The next day on the school roof, she was discussing Akira's absence with Touya, Es and Hinata. Once Hinata left they were approached by Mei, who quickly started an argument with Kuon. Kuon quickly got fed up with Mei's behavior and returned to the classroom. After school, she asked Touya and Hinata how long they'd been friends with Akira and they told her about their past. They then split up to look for Akira while Hinata went home. [6]
That night, she, Mei and Elise arrived at the Himezuru residence to find Akira standing over an unconscious Touya, Es and Hinata. After Akira fled Mei told her about Es's condition and that she was an artificial being. Kuon was shocked to find out that a Homunculus existed but thanked Mei for being there to help, saying there's nothing sadder than losing a family member. Mei, remembering that Kuon just lost her father, confided in her that she also lost her mother during the Wadatsumi Incident and can understand her pain. Mei then discussed with Kuon and Elise how unnatural it was for Akira to already be in phase three and what the Ten Sages were planning, specifically to push Touya over the edge. Mei told them that she heard a strange Discover Call from Touya. She confirmed that he wasn't a Union but was worried about the Discover Call's meaning. After strengthening the barrier around the house, Elise said that she would return to Ishana to hack into the Magic Guild's database and find out more about the Wadatsumi Incident, the Grimoire and the Embryo. Kuon was initially hesitant, but Elise convinced her by revealing she covered up Kuon's own attempt to get into the restricted database. Elise said she didn't just come to hang out with Kuon, but to help her, making her promise to come back as soon as she's done. Once Touya woke up Kuon told him what happened and that he should stay in the house while she and Elise searched for Akira, which Touya agreed to.
The next day, she went to see Elise off, telling Touya and Hinata to stay indoors and Es to watch over Touya. Later, she said she needed to talk to Touya and Es, telling them about Akira's unnatural crystal progression and that they needed to stop him before he reached phase five and was marked for termination. She said that nobody had survived being Union-infected and Touya should prepare for the worst. [7]
The next evening after learning that Es was able to return to the Mitsurugi Agency, she broke her promise to Mei and told Touya about Es being an artificial human. Once Souichiro Unomaru arrived, she told Touya that she was going to check on Akira's condition and left. Once she was back in Akira's room in Shin Yokozaki University Hospital, Touya came in and she told him that Hinata went shopping. Touya then received a call from Ripper, who had kidnapped Hinata. Kuon told Touya she'd inform Mei before helping him search for them. They met up again and Ripper called Touya, saying he's tired of waiting and activating his Drive so Touya could find him. With the help of Kuon's magic they reach Ripper and find Hinata unconscious and hanging over the edge of the roof by a chain. Touya begged Ripper to let Hinata go but Ripper just made fun of him. Ripper told Touya that he had a strange “odor” similar to his own and Sechs's and he wanted to find out why that was for fun. In order to make Touya unleash his power, Ripper told him that he was the one who murdered Yuki's parents. When that didn't work Ripper cut the chain holding Hinata, leaving her to fall to her death. Touya went berserk, unleashing the power of the Origin of the Grimoire, which stole the seithr from Ripper's body, causing him to run off saying it's not fun anymore. Unable to control himself, Touya also sapped Kuon of her strength. Mei arrived, healing Kuon, alongside Es, who revealed she caught Hinata and she was fine. This caused Touya to return to normal. [8] Kuon asked Mei to explain anything she knew about the situation and Mei told her that Touya was using the power of the Black Beast. Drei and Sechs then arrived and Sechs told them that they need the power of the Black Beast to destroy the Embryo. Drei told them that Unomaru was planning on using the Embryo to control the minds of everyone in the world. He warned Kuon and Mei not to get in their way or they would return everything to seithr and that all that mattered was the future Sechs was trying to create. Sechs and Drei then disappeared. Once Touya woke up, Mei promised to tell him and Kuon everything she knew, but suggested they return to the Himezuru residence since it was too dangerous where they were.
Back at the Himezuru residence, Mei told Touya and Kuon and about the Gate of Sheol underneath the Wadatsumi Research Facility, about the Amanohokosaka's history guarding the Gate and that the first Azure Shrine Maiden stopped the Black Beast from emerging by luring it back into the Gate and sealing both of them inside it. Touya had doubts that Unomaru was planning what the Ten Sages said he was, which angered Kuon. Mei told Kuon not to put too much faith in the Ten Sages words and Kuon countered that she was saying they can't trust Mei because she's part of the Mitsurugi Agency. Mei said her family was basically being held hostage and Kuon wouldn't be able to act if she was in the same situation. Kuon said she came fully prepared to kill her own brother, but Mei didn't believe that. Mei said she had plans to eventually reclaim Wadatsumi, which Kuon didn't accept. Kuon then left, saying she's going to speak to Sechs one more time and that she'd probably never return to the Himezuru residence.
Kuon found Sechs and asked him what he intended to do with Touya. Sechs said he would obviously have him unleash the Grimoire. When Kuon said that doing so would result in countless deaths and he shouldn't need to go that far to stop Unomaru, Sechs said he desired total destruction. Kuon was horrified that he didn't care if people died, but Sechs said that nothing truly dies, just returns to its original state. He said it's a truth he learned from speaking with his crystal and that while “he” no longer spoke to Sechs, they would eventually become one. Kuon asked if this meant he was no longer her brother and Sechs said the conversation was a waste of time. Kuon declared that if he was no longer her brother she would use the Sealed Spear: Izayoi to take him in. Sechs said he didn't have time to deal with it and disappeared. Kuon then claimed she needed to track him down again, but realized she's hungry and was embarrassed by how melodramatically she claimed she would never return to the Himezuru residence. [9]
That night, she returned to the Himezuru residence and immediately ate several of Hinata's rice balls. She came out of her room to find Mei making fun of her, but insisted that she only said she'd “probably” not be coming back. Kuon told Touya and Mei to meet her downstairs since she had important information from Elise. Hinata offered them tea and Mei said how good it is, but Kuon got upset when Mei calls it “cheap.” After Hinata left, Kuon read a letter from Elise that contained her findings about the Wadatsumi Incident. She discovered that Unomaru was a survivor of the incident and that he was not working to treat the Unions he captured, but rather to gather their crystals so he could refine the Embryo. She also found that TOi was powered by the T-System and was created to be a high-level information control system. They figured out that Unomaru was likely at the Wadatsumi Research Facility attempting to complete the T-System. Mei said Touya should stay behind because of the Grimoire and because it's too dangerous, but Touya said he had something he needs to ask Unomaru. Kuon said they should bring Touya along and promised to kill him if he lost control so Mei agreed but added that she'd send him home if things got too dangerous. They then discussed that they needed to deal with the Ten Sages, Mei revealing that Avenge told her that he killed Drei. Mei theorized that the Origin of the Grimoire was the only thing that could destroy the Embryo and the Ten Sages had been trying to cause Touya to activate it for that reason. Mei asked if they had anything they needed to do before they headed out and Es asked for pudding so Mei begrudgingly said they'd wait until Hinata returned. After Touya got off the phone with Yuki, he told Kuon and Mei that Akira was going to be all right. Kuon was relieved but Mei said she found his ability to survive gross like an insect. [10]
Arriving at the Restricted Ward, Mei found it odd that there was no one there. Es didn't detect any human presence inside and said if they were going to go inside they should do it then. Inside, Touya recalled how he first met Es. This caused Kuon and Mei to get in another fight, with Mei saying she couldn't believe she was working alongside someone from the Magic Guild. Kuon promised that she would force the Magic Guild to change its ways once she got back to Ishana, but Mei must reclaim Wadatsumi in exchange. Mei accepted and they approached the wall around the Wadatsumi Research Facility. They were suddenly attacked by Acht's Ice magic. Es deflected all of the attacks and Acht remarked that she hoped to kill at least one of them with that attack. Acht said she had no idea where Sechs was and was no longer involved with him, she just wanted to go crazy. Acht told them that they must defeat her in order to go on. As Kuon, Es and Mei discussed what to do with Touya, Acht attacked but got blocked by Kuon's Fire magic. Kuon told Es to go with Touya and leave Acht to her and Mei. Kuon then created a large explosion that blinded Acht, allowing Es to get past her. Mei thought Kuon was crazy, since they couldn't hurt Acht thanks to her Drive. Kuon plans to use the Sealed Spear: Izayoi but Mei tells her not to use it except as a last resort and that the two of them will defeat Acht together. Acht overwhelmed Kuon with her Ice magic, claiming she could teach Kuon a few things. Mei tried to attack with Lightning magic but got blocked as well. Kuon and Mei then both fired at Acht simultaneously, forcing her to activate her Drive to negate their attacks. As a “prize” for forcing her to use her Drive, Acht told them more about the Embryo - that the Embryo already existed in an incomplete state that both existed and didn't existed. Acht asked Mei how to destroy something like that and Mei said with the Origin of the Grimoire, but Acht said that was wrong. Acht then told her that they needed to first complete the Embryo and only the Grimoire could refine it. Kuon wondered if Sechs learned all that from the crystal but Acht said story time was over and renewed her attack. Mei said they're in trouble if Touya and Es decided to go on ahead of them so Kuon said she had no choice but to use the Izayoi. Mei responded that she couldn't afford to let Kuon use it and had a secret weapon, the Goofball Proximity Surveyor. Mei then attacked Acht again, but snuck in the G.P.S. in the confusion, negating Acht's Drive and giving Kuon the opportunity to unleash her full power against Acht. However, it wasn't enough to put Acht down, but it did cause her crystal to progress a phase. Acht retaliated by launching a large iceberg at the two, which Kuon barely managed to destroy. At that time, Acht had reached phase six and devolved to the point where she was screaming about how they were enemies who she had to kill, creating another giant iceberg. Mei told Kuon that she needed to stop firing such large spells or she'd kill herself. Kuon said she'd never be able to live with herself if she ran. She also said she didn't believe that Acht abandoned Sechs and she was doing this out of loyalty. Kuon felt she had to respect her resolve. Kuon and Mei put all of their power into one combined spell, which pushed Acht's crystal over the edge. In her last moments, Acht asked if Sechs was there and tried to tell him she loves him before disappearing into seithr, leaving behind only her crystal. Kuon picked it up and said she'd like to bring it back to Ishana in place of her remains. Kuon and Mei then went off to find Touya and Es. [11]
Kuon and Mei arrived to back Es up, who was fighting three Es-N units. Es told them that the Es-N units had their combat data and could predict their moves as well as that Touya went on ahead. Mei and Kuon said that was bad since the Grimoire was needed to refine the Embryo. They then told Es to go on ahead and leave the Es-N units to them. During the battle, they felt an earthquake and realized the refinement must have started. The Es-N units continued their assault and Kuon said they'd have to leave everything to Es. Kuon and Mei managed to defeat the Es-N units and reach the core of the T-System, where they saved Es and Touya from Sechs. However, they were quickly defeated by him.
One month after the Embryo incident, Touya, Kuon and Mei were chasing a Union and Touya could tell they were in phase four based just on their Discover Call. They found him and noticed he was acting unnatural and his clothes were damaged. Together the three managed to subdue the Union. Mei said she's glad she had Touya and Kuon's help and Kuon realized that it meant Mei was understaffed. Mei then told them that she was reprogramming the last Es-N unit to work for them, but Mei was having trouble switching its power sources from crystals to electricity. Mei said that they would probably be less efficient like that, but was sure she could compensate with her magic. Kuon made fun of Mei's style for thinking a robot familiar was cool and the two got into an argument. Touya tried to break it up but the two insisted they were having a normal conversation.
The next day at the Himezuru residence, Hinata offered Mei some tea. Mei said she didn't stop by for tea, but Kuon pointed out the box she had. Mei said it's a gift she just happened to pick up and Hinata said it's fine for Mei to visit whenever she wanted. As Kuon called Mei adorable for her behavior, Touya came downstairs. Mei said she came to say goodbye since Kuon was returning to Ishana the next day. Kuon said that Mei shouldn't have come if she was busy but Mei claimed it was important, which Kuon found endearing. Touya said he wanted to talk to them in private. Touya said it was about his lack of memories from before the Wadatsumi Incident and why he was at the Wadatsumi Research Facility in the first place. Touya begged the two of them to help him find out more about his past, which the two readily agreed to. Mei said she owed Touya a favor for helping her with her work, since his promise to help the Mitsurugi Agency ended with Unomaru's death. Kuon said she'd have Elise look into Touya's past, since she was good at uncovering information. Mei added that she could get in touch with Avenge to ask him about it since he was one of the few people who knew about the Takamagahara Organization. As Touya thanked them, Kuon and Mei said Touya had changed since they first met since he no longer just said “sorry” to everything. Later, after Yuki arrived, Kuon said she needed to leave. Hinata was sad but Kuon said she would definitely visit. Kuon thanked Touya for everything, saying that even if she lost her brother, she would treasure the days she spent with him and the others. Yuki started teasing Touya about Kuon but was disappointed to find out Touya just asked Kuon to do him a favor. Kuon then left. [12]
10 days later, Kuon called Touya. Ringo Akagi interrupted, saying she would leave now that she'd stolen Hinata's recipe, which relieved Touya. Ringo said she didn't expect to see Touya any time soon and left. Kuon was surprised to find Zwei at the Himezuru residence but Touya had no idea what she was talking about. Kuon gave Touya an update on his request; saying she found out how the Origin of the Grimoire ended up in Wadatsumi. 10 years ago, the Magic Guild and Takamagahara cooperated to open the gate to the Boundary. Takamagahara wanted the infinite energy source of seithr while the Magic Guild wanted to find the “Roots of the Azure.” The Magic Guild had members of the Ten Sages try to force open the gate and they were lost in the Wadatsumi Incident. Elise told Kuon they needed to get back to their room since the dorm manager was making her rounds so Kuon hung up in a hurry. [13]
One month later, Kuon sent mail to Hinata, saying that she made it back to Ishana safely and to tell Mei that she would keep her promise on the honor of the true Ten Sages. It also said that, due to Elise's insistence, they would be back in Japan soon. [14]
Lost: Memories
Some time after the Embryo Incident, Kuon remained in Shin Yokozaki City, resolving to help Mei and Touya with the apprehension of Unions for the Mitsurugi Agency. After smoothly capturing a Phase 4 Union, Mei revealed to them both about her plans for the Es-N, to which Kuon gave her approval. [15] On the penultimate day before her return to Ishana, Kuon was treated by Mei and Hinata to some special pastries and tea. She lightly teased the shrine maiden about having gone through all the effort and called her adorable. Touya asked Kuon for assistance with helping recover his lost memories as well as information on his mother Ryouko Kagari. Kuon agreed to help, stating that she would get Elise to research the Wadatsumi Incident and see what could be uncovered.
The following day was her last in Japan for a while. As she left the Himezuru residence, she was teased by Yuki, who claimed she could sense a hidden romance between Kuon and Touya. This was denied.[16] Elise called Touya some time later, and together with Kuon, the two revealed the information that they had gathered on the Wadatsumi Incident. They knew who she was, but relented on telling Touya. [17] When Ringo returned, she resumed her mantle as Zwei and began to tutor Kuon.
This changed when Konoe A. Mercury intervened, repowering the Embryo and allowing Nobody to create a human version of Es in Shin Yokozaki at least a few days before the deaths would occur. [18]
The pair of mages were invited to a welcome party for Es which would occur the following day, and they accepted before returning to their hotel.[19]
At the welcoming party, Kuon and Elise found themselves being teased by Mei, who had caught them reading manga in Akihabara instead of focusing on their mission. She tried to refute against Mei by asking why she was in the area to begin with, but before an argument could erupt, both were silenced by Hinata.[20] The following day, Kuon and Elise were summoned by Mei. She explained to them that there was a Union in Shin Yokozaki that was killing indiscriminately, but they were remaining elusive. Later that day, the mages revealed their mission to Mei now that they believed that Freaks was the same Union terrorizing Shin Yokozaki.[21] The following day, Kuon met with Elise, Mei, and Touya to discuss how they would approach apprehending Freaks.[22]
Eventually, Freaks was killed by a combined attack by Es and Touya. [23]
After Freaks death, Kuon returned to Ishana and became the new leader of the Ten Sages. Zwei continued to tutor her and Elise gave continual updates on Kuon's situation to Es. [24]
