Elise von Klagen (エルス＝フォン＝クラーゲン) is a character introduced in XBlaze Code: Embryo. Elise is a Mage student in Ishana and Kuon Glamred Stroheim's dorm mate.

Appearance

Elise's usual attire.

Elise is a pale-skinned girl with purple eyes and light-blue hair. Her hair falls down to her waist, and she has straight-cut bangs parted in the middle. She wears a white headband, and parts of her hair curl up on either side behind the headband. The parts that hang at the side of her face fall below her chin, and she has a white ribbon tied around them. Elise's outfit consists of a plain white collared shirt with a blue tie and long sleeves. Over this she wears a button-up navy blazer; over her blazer is a small white coat with blue rim and a blue cravat. Elise also wears a matching white skirt, knee-high dark blue socks, and white boots.

While swimming, Elise wore a backless navy one-piece that had slits across the hips and above the breasts. Before formally introducing herself to Touya, she wore a purple coat over her main attire, its hood obscuring her face; it has a white collar and a small purple tie on the front.

Personality

Elise presents herself as very polite and proper, the picture of perfect etiquette. However, underneath that is a much more childish side that mostly appears around Kuon. Elise is in love with Kuon and wants to be with her at all times. She is not shy about this at all and will proclaim that her relationship with Kuon is more intimate than it actually is. Despite this, Elise does truly understand Kuon on a deeper level than anyone else. Additionally, Elise is a huge otaku. She is obsessed with Japanese culture, particularly anime and manga and dragged Kuon to Akihabara on their second visit to Shin Yokozaki City, saying she wanted to live there. She also has no reservations about her hobbies, willing to emphatically declare her love of anime to everyone around her.

In her free time, Elise either watches anime, is hacking, spending time with Kuon, or enjoying a historical drama.

Powers & Techniques

Elise specializes in Defensive magic, being exceptionally skilled in creating wards and barriers. She is confident that her defensive spells are on a level that even the Ten Sages would have trouble breaking through. Her Vehitelvelte spell creates a barrier that is strong enough to block Freaks's claws. Together with Kuon, Elise can use Soul Direction, in which Kuon casts a Fire spell inside a small ward Elise creates, focusing the blast into a high-powered laser.

While she is a skilled Mage, Elise is weak physically. She is completely out of breath when trying to run after Kuon, while the latter is completely fine.

Full name is Elise von Klagen. An observer sent by the Magic Guild. She is, at first glance, very earnest, and a hard worker. Kuon's roommate back in Ishana, Elise has very strong feelings for Kuon and will stop at nothing to be with her. She is also the one person that truly understands Kuon and what she's going through. After the Embryo incident she returned to Ishana with Kuon and is doing all she can to help her friend become a Ten Sage.

• In the BlazBlue 10th Anniversary Character Poll, Elise placed 62nd out of the 84 candidates. She scored one place above Acht and one place below Kuon. She had 27 votes.
• Elise is one of a handful of confirmed LGBT characters. Others include Makoto Nanaya and Shiori Kirihito.
• Elise's name is the only character name that was changed in localization. It was originally "Els", but was changed to Elise. In the BlazBlue 10th Anniversary, her name was formally changed from Els to Elise in all languages.
• The hood that Elise wears when she first meets Touya and Es was inspired by the hood worn by Platinum the Trinity in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.
• Elise shares her love of historical dramas with Tsubaki Yayoi.
