Borderline The Diary

Lotte Carmine (ロット＝カーマイン), simply known to his friends as Roy (ロイ), was a scientist at Sector Seven, and a former assistant of Kokonoe. He was very close to Litchi Faye-Ling and Iron Tager, implied to be in love with the former and considered a brother by the latter. His obsessive research with the Azure and Boundary twisted his body into Arakune while his soul remained inside the Boundary itself - he is currently still there, conducting his research.

Appearance

Roy is a tall, slender man with pale skin, messy black hair, and a mole on the bottom right side of his face next to his mouth. His eyes are obscured by his glasses.

He wears a light blue button-up shirt, black pants, and a white lab coat with several pens in the pocket. His character portrait also shows him carrying around a notebook.

Personality

Roy is an unassuming man who is fascinated by the discoveries science brings to him. He seems to take his liking of science to an almost obsessive degree. Whilst he cares more for science, he has a soft spot for Litchi. As he gladly teaches her Alchemy in exchange for learning from her about chinese herbal medicine. Roy also has mild issues with paranoia given how he hyper-read into Litchi’s actions. He dislikes Kokonoe’s treatment of him but puts up with it because she is his superior.

Because of his intelligence, Roy was often shunned, something that may have lead him down his dark path that eventually ended into the creation of Arakune. As he was orphaned, it is noted that he has never known love from a parent.

Powers & Techniques

While Roy doesn't physically fight in game, he is noted to be very skilled in alchemy. He is one of the few characters in the series confirmed to not have a Drive.

Lotte Carmine (Roy)

His nickname is Roy, and he eventually becomes Arakune.

He was a genius alchemist working at Sector Seven, but had uncompromisable differences with Kokonoe. The two would clash frequently, but were able to maintain a certain level of balance within the lab.

That is, until he disobeys Kokonoe's orders in the pursuit of truth and knowledge by coming too close to the Boundary. He becomes obsessed with finding the Azure, and eventually transforms into a monster.

• Unlike most other characters, the majority of Roy's personal information, such as his height and weight, was revealed in an Arcnama episode, and not in a material collection or game.
• Roy's real birthday is unknown.
