Ikaruga Civil War

Borderline, The Diary, Collisions

In 2193, Litchi joined Sector Seven to be the apprentice of Kokonoe. On her first day she met Roy while she was lost and the two formed a quick friendship as they learned they would be working together. This friendship would deepen as she taught him Chinese herbalism and medicine, while he taught her alchemy. She would also come to be close friends with Iron Tager while excelling in her research under Kokonoe's tutelage and Litchi soon developed the liquid theory of seithr, a theorem lauded by Kokonoe. In time, she saw the relationship between her tutor and Roy start to stretch thin as he was being corrupted by the Boundary in his pursuit of knowledge.

Variable Heart

With Kokonoe, Litchi travelled to the 11th Hierarchical City of Shinatsu, entering the Hazuki estate. There, she met Houichirou Hazuki, Mai Natsume, Kajun Faycott, Taro Sasaga'e, Bell, and Shiori Kirihito. After everyone, bar Houichirou, agreed to join Kokonoe, they travelled to the cauldron of the city where Litchi explained that Meifang Lapislazuli had begun opening facilities closed after the civil war and was likely planning to smelt something. They were soon interrupted by a group of Fuzzy, who kidnapped Bell, and Kokonoe teleported Tager to their location where they fought the vampires off. Overwhelmed by their numbers, the group was only saved from the numerous vampires when they began to crumble into dust. Kokonoe ordered Litchi and Tager to assist her in teleporting Shiori, Taro, and Kajun to Mai's location so she could defeat Meifang.

Calamity Trigger

A female doctor working in the downtown of Orient Town, located in the lower levels of Kagutsuchi. As a doctor, and as an understanding person, she is an indispensible presence around town. She herself also loves the town very much, so much that she forgets her own goals.

Litchi: Oh, my... What a cute little girl. Are you lost? Where are you from? Where are your mommy and daddy? Rachel: ... Litchi: You're wearing such nice clothes... You must not be from around here. What should I do...? Rachel: I see you have changed. Have you found the strength you sought? I see you are determined, if nothing else. Litchi: Uhh... What are you talking about? Rachel: The one who you're trying to save gave away his humanity to enter another world. He was consumed by the knowledge he sought. What a fool. You still pursue him even though you know his fate... Perhaps you are more like him than you realize. Litchi: Who... who are you!? Rachel: Why the frightened face, child? Ah well, there is nothing pressing at the moment. I will spare a moment to play with you. <Litchi Victory> Rachel: You have entertained me. I hope your wish comes true. Litchi: Who in the world... was she...?

Stage VIII: Arakune

Litchi: I finally found you... It's been so long... about two years, right? Are you doing OK? Arakune: Uuugh Aah who you? Litchi: Do you know how long it took me to find this place? And what I had to go through? It was so easy to find you before... I just had to go to your room. Geez... you're always so selfish and reckless. Arakune: Who you? hav no memorie of you. can't emember anything. Litchi: I see... So you've really forgotten, huh...? Arakune: You are just ing s I hav no you. Begone! Litchi: I'm sorry I didn't notice... I'm sorry I couldn't stop you... I'll put you out of your misery. That's all I can do for you now... I'm sorry... <Litchi Victory> Arakune: GUAAAAH LITCH...! Litchi: !? W-Wait!

Stage IX: Hakumen

Litchi: Where am I? The air here reminds me of the Boundary, but something's... different... Ah! Hakumen: ... Litchi: You... Are you Hakumen? Hakumen: Oh, so you know me? You must have something to do with that Grimalkin. Litchi: "Grimalkin"? Are you referring to the professor? That's terrible... But if you're here, that means the salvage was a success. I left midway and didn't get to see it through. Is the professor doing well? Hakumen: You... What did you harvest from the Boundary? Litchi: !? Hakumen: You may have fooled the others, but you can't fool my eyes. I shall purify that corrupted soul of yours. I am the white void. I am the cold steel. I am the just sword. With blade in hand shall I reap the sins of this world, and cleanse it in the fires of destruction. I am Hakumen. The end has come! <Litchi Victory> Hakumen: Guh! Stage X: Nu-13

Nu-13: Loading...loading...loading...loading... Complete... Litchi: Is this what Hakumen was waiting for? Then... this can't be good. Nu-13: Target recognized. Auto mode: activated. Litchi: I guess I can't run away anymore... but with the way I am now, I can force you back into the Cauldron. Nu-13: Target identified: obstacle. Elimination protocol release requested... Request granted. Litchi: You know, he called my name... It was only for a moment, but he did... I might make it in time. I might still be able to save him... That's why I don't have time to be defeated here! Nu-13: Activate elimination protocol. <Litchi Victory> Litchi: This is... a distortion in space-time!

AD2199/06/27 Litchi: Next patient? Huh. I guess that's it for today. I'm going out for a bit, so can you take care of the rest? Linhua: No problem, Dr. Faye-Ling. Litchi: Thanks. I'll be back in a few hours, OK? If anyone comes in, refer them to Dr. Han. Linhua: Awww, that quack? Litchi: Dr. Han may be blunt, but he's very skilled. Hmmm... I suppose his people skills are a little lacking. Linhua: Well, that can't be helped. You do get more patients than he does. So, are you going underground again today? I'm amazed you can actually talk to those people-hating cats. Litchi: That's not true. They're all very cute and friendly. Linhua: Well, every single guy in this town is absolutely crazy about you... so I'm sure you can lure in anyone with your amazing charms... er... skills. Litchi: You say something? Linhua: Not at all. Say, didn't you have something urgent to do? Have a safe trip. Litchi: Yeah, yeah... Take care of the rest, OK? Litchi: It's been half a year since I came to Kagutsuchi... I've discovered where he operates, but... he's not very easy to find. Still, the kitties in the Kaka clan said they'd help me... So I guess there's no point to being down. Litchi: All right! Time for some action!

Calamity Trigger Reconstruction

Early in 2199, Litchi learned that Arakune had appeared in the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi. She moved to the city and founded a clinic in Orient Town, one of the city's many districts. There, she took on a pupil, Linhua, and became close friends with the Kaka clan, who's kittens were being eaten by Arakune. During this time, she also became good friends with Totokaka, the leader of the Kaka, Taokaka, their guardian, and Bang Shishigami, the leader of the surviving Ikarugan ninja. In the space of a year, Litchi became a well loved figure within her local community, although she lost contact with Kokonoe and Tager. She also began conducting research for Totokaka on the reproductive rates of the Kaka, but the results were not positive.

In the late December of 2199, Litchi visited Lost Town, but noticed the presence of Ragna the Bloodedge, who had been there earlier. Following the directions of Totokaka, Litchi ran towards the sewers, believing that Arakune would find Ragna because of his Azure Grimoire. Her suspicions proved to be true, and she found the Grim Reaper standing over the defeated monster. She pleaded with Ragna, allowing Arakune time to escape, and continued to explain her and his situation to the criminal, who warned her about getting close to the Boundary with Lao Jiu. She thanked him for his concern, but told him of her continued resolve. Later that evening, she tended to the wounds of Bang, which were caused by Jin Kisaragi.

Continuum Shift

A practitioner of medicine working in the middle-class district "Orient Town" situated in the lower levels of Kagutsuchi. In order to save her former colleague Arakune, she wrote a letter asking for help from a scientist of Sector Seven, Kokonoe. When she failed to receive a response, she decided to go visit the scientist herself.

Now if you'll just excuse me... Good-bye, Bang. Bang: M-Miss Litchi! Please, wait a moment! Litchi: ...Eh? Bang: Your beautiful face looks uncharacteristically grim. Where are you headed? Litchi: Eh? Th-That's... Bang: No, don't speak. I already know what hardships you face. There is something you must protect... Is that not correct?! Litchi: Bang...? Bang: HOWEVER! 'Litchi! Gah! Bang: Knowing what I do, I cannot simply let you pass! No, to pass, you must walk across my dead body! For I fight for love and justice! Perhaps you should come back another time. Litchi: What happened...? Tager: The Library is up to no good again, that's all. Now, if you're done stating your business, I should be going. Litchi: Wait! Tager: ... Is there something else? Litchi: I'm sorry, but I don't have much time, either! If you insist on getting in my way, then... I... Tager: Stop it, Litchi! I'd like to answer that - you know, sort of a treat for getting so far - but it's, ah, going to take me a while to come up with a good answer. Litchi: Wh-What are you talking about...? But that black trash heap you're in love with? Even BIGGER failure. Litchi: Kuh...! Terumi: Yeah, the Cauldron. What, did I mumble? The Cauldron's the Grimoire's original form. It gathers souls to smelt the sword inside its body. That was our little pet - the Beast. And don't even get me started on your little boyfriend, Arakune. Litchi: ... Well, I've heard that he's here in Ikaruga, too, but...I wasn't expecting you to be with him. His grimoire... No, I suppose I must find "her" first. Taokaka: Meow? All I can say is that this is not a place you must "be". Litchi: I'm sorry, but I cannot do that. Bang: ...I bring word from Miss Linhua, "Doctor Litchi, please return at once. I don't think I can rely on Doctor Han alone..." Though those were the only words she has left me, I could tell...her eyes were red from tears... Litchi: ... Bang: There are too many souls saddened by your disappearance, (mine included). Surely you must be aware of that, Miss Litchi. I shall even escort you back to Kagutsuchi personally. Litchi: Bang...I really cannot do that right now, and I'm terribly sorry... But there is something I must do here. Bang: Then you leave me no choice. I must take you back to Kagutsuchi, even by force. Litchi: ...?! Bang: Please forgive me for what I am about to do...! <Litchi Victory> Bang: Guaaaah...ugh... This cannot be. Stage 8: Rachel Alucard

Litchi: This is it! These must be the prime field devices... So, inside here... Rachel: I suggest you do not do anything foolish. Litchi: ...?! Wh-When did you...?! Rachel: Nothing awaits you at the end the path upon which you are about to transgress... Litchi: So what if there isn't? What does that have to do with you? Rachel: Oh, but it does... Because, what you are trying to become...is me. Litchi: Rachel Alucard... As an "Observer", what right do you have to question my actions? Rachel: ...You know, this is actually quite comical. And foolish, of course. Right now you are nothing but a puppet dancing on Terumi's palm. Yet even knowing that, you still insist on continuing with this little charade? Litchi: No! This is...the only way I can save him... That's why I–? Rachel: That's why you want to become an "Observer"? And you think that's an excuse for lending Terumi your power?! Litchi: ... Rachel: *Sigh* I suppose a good roasting might help bring you back to your senses.

Preceptor

AD2200/02/03 Rachel: Have you calmed down some? Litchi: *Pant pant* Rachel: What you are doing right now is pushing your ego onto those around you. It's quite foolish, obviously, but above all...it's arrogant. Litchi: ! Rachel: Hehe, well...you may do as you please. As you say, this is none of my business. And meddling any more than I have would quite frankly be a little...troublesome...for me. But, I shall tell you one thing before I depart. Though it might seem quite unnecessary to you, right now... Litchi: ...? Rachel: Should you become an "Observer", for the rest of time you must acknowledge your own existence... As well as your target's... Should you fail to maintain that acknowledgement of your "self" for even a second, you will cease to exist as an Observer... And even vanish. Your master Kokonoe is no exception...and that goes for me, as well. So, unbeknownst to you, we shoulder great risks as Observers. Litchi: ...What are you trying to say? Rachel: This person...he is frankly beyond saving. In fact, his entire being should have been pulled into the Boundary, yet his "unstable existence" is somehow being observed. Foolish wouldn't even begin to describe what she's doing. I'm afraid I would pass that in a heartbeat. Even Takamagahara would have trouble... Litchi: ...Huh? Rachel: Not to mention observing Hakumen AND him... Though temporary, to sustain observations of that magnitude simultaneously, to me, is an act of sheer madness. Litchi: Y-You mean the professor, she...she is keeping Roy from...?! Arakune: Litchi...return to Kokonoe... I loath to admit it, but she is a genius... Perhaps she may be able to... Rachel: *Sigh* I have already told you too much. I shall take my leave now... I suggest you do the same after you get over yourself. Litchi: *Sob* Uh...ah... Professor, I... I just...wanted...Roy...!

Story Mode

Chrono Phantasma

In an NOL branch, Litchi bumped into Hazama, and he grabbed her. She told him sternly to let go and refused his offer of eating her memories. Litchi told him that she refused to become like Tsubaki and left to search for Relius. She later received a call from Relius concerning the seithr concentrations in Ikaruga, and she was startled at the fluctuating results. Litchi sent them to him soon afterward.

With Relius, Ignis Clover, and Nu-13, Litchi made her way to the 8th Hierarchical City of Wadatsumi where she met Ragna, Bang, Noel, and Celica A. Mercury. She sided with Relius since rebuilding the world would mean saving Roy. Bang questioned her loyalty and Litchi stated that she took no pride in what she was doing. Carl soon joined Relius's side and Litchi begged him to not intervene. When Makoto arrived as backup, Litchi took her on but lost the battle. The group retreated when the flow of seithr stopped due to the Lynchpin's activation, and Litchi healed Relius' wounds when Carl asked.

Sector Seven

Litchi was put directly under the command of Relius Clover. She was not happy about the position she had to take, rarely showing any sign of happiness or emotion. Arakune had been stored in the lab she worked in, and when Relius implemented an Artificial Causality Weapon inside it, Litchi was made Arakune's Observer. Relius visited the room she was working in and left when he arrived, making her way to the room where Arakune was stored. As she put her head against the glass of the aquarium the monster was in, she began to reminisce on the time she spent with Roy. Soon enough, Litchi realized that Arakune was not in the contained, and she rushed upstairs to find Relius. She eventually found him and demanded to know where Arakune was, learning that he had been sent to the Ikaruga Region; she stormed out of the Colonel's office.

In the 6th Hierarchical City of Yabiko, Litchi was determined to find Kokonoe so she could find a way to save Roy. However, the doctor was found by Bullet who demanded to know where Kokonoe was. Litchi did not know, she had not spoken to Kokonoe properly in over a month. Regardless, Bullet attacked, but Litchi managed to escape, not wanting to fight in a public area over something she knew nothing about. In her retreat, she accidentally ended up in downtown Yabiko, but was found by Tager and Makoto. Tager put Litchi on a call to Kokonoe, who told her that she would not help save Roy through Observation. This infuriated Litchi, who battled Tager; this was for naught as Kokonoe changed her mind and agreed to talk to Litchi about if she came back with the others to Yabiko.

Before they could return, the worst possible situation occurred – Tager and Litchi were sandwiched between Azrael and Nu-13, the latter of which had been presumably sent to retrieve Litchi. Kagura Mutsuki was mechanically teleported to their side by Kokonoe to battle against Azrael while Litchi would battle Nu, all to buy time for Tager to teleport all three of them away. Litchi lost her battle, unable to keep up with Nu's incredible strength and power. Before the battle could get any worse, the teleportation activated and they were saved. Now in the NOL Yabiko branch, Litchi told Kokonoe and Kagura of her plans to save Roy – by using Observation, an overdrive, the Azure Grimoire, and the liquid theory of seithr.

Later that same evening, Litchi retired to a small room, feeling that she was under mild house-arrest because of the security systems in the hallway. Makoto visited her and asked if she knew what was going on in Ikaruga. The two speculated but Litchi knew that Kokonoe was eavesdropping, so invited her to participate in the conversation – the professor held a grim outlook on what was going to happen in the near future.

With Makoto, Kokonoe, and Kagura, Litchi ran to the ruins of the 5th Hierarchical City of Ibukido as they learned that Relius was attempting to create a Black Beast. There, Relius waited with Arakune by his side, and Litchi discovered that not only did Relius want to create a Black Beast, but he was going to use Arakune as the base.

I need you to connect me to Professor Kokonoe. If you mention my name, Litchi, she'll know. Bullet: ...No thanks. Our comms are strictly for the mission. Those are the orders, and I will follow them. Litchi: I'm sorry... but I really can't take no for an answer right now. I'm running out of time. Bullet: So you're going to take it by force... Very well. Let's see what you can do. <Litchi Victory> Kokonoe: That's enough, Bullet. I'll talk to her. Bullet: Professor! Litchi: It's been a while, Professor... Kokonoe: Cut the banter. So, what do you want? Story Mode

Although taken inside the Embryo, Litchi did not become one of the chosen. Her memories were still altered, however. Upon hearing from Linhua that Tager was in Kagutsuchi, she closed the clinic early, going to find the Red Devil by herself. She succeeded, and began asking if he was looking for Arakune, being happy when he answered no. She returned to the clinic late at night until she heard knocking at the clinic door – answering it, she found Bang with an amnesiac Ragna who was seriously injured. She sent Bang shopping for supplies and introduced Linhua to the Grim Reaper the following morning. She knew immediately who he was, and warned him that if he were to stray too far into public, he would be captured by the NOL. Tao suddenly appeared and offered to hide him the Kaka Village, so Litchi relented and allowed it, but only under the condition that she accompany him, leaving Linhua in charge of the clinic.

At the Kaka Village, Litchi further tended to Ragna's wounds, and awoke some memories. She went to talk for the elder, allowing him some rest; later, she was playing with the kittens, and went outside to distract Noel when she heard from Bang that the NOL lieutenant was surveying the entrance. She was very nearly successful until Bang blew her cover by announcing that the Grim Reaper had ran away from the house he was in. She quickly ran towards the sewers where Ragna was heading, with both Bang and Noel hot on her tail. She found Arakune on the verge of being killed by the Grim Reaper, and stopped him, begging that he be spared – Noel was unconscious on the ground, and Litchi suggested, rather brutally, that Ragna kill her, or all their lives could be in danger.

Litchi tended to Noel when Ragna left, and was found by Tsubaki, who immediately demanded why her friend was in such a state. She stopped Bang from attacking the soldier and allowed Tsubaki to take Noel to the surface where she could be treated She later found Arakune and he attacked her, eventually relenting when he realised she channels the power of the Boundary. This attack revoked some of Litchi's memories on how Arakune came to exist. She was later transported to Ikaruga by Nine the Phantom and told to defeat Izanami to claim her piece of the Azure

Because of Lao Jiu's connection to the Boundary, Litchi was retrieving her memories more rapidly than others. She met Relius, and he stirred several memories before warning her that her body will deteriorate if she pursues Arakune. Litchi travelled to Akitsu and came to its cauldron, her memories now back to her. She realised that Arakune was merely a vessel created by Roy, and that his soul was still inside the Boundary – she planned on reactivating the cauldron to retrieve it but was stopped by Tager who reminded her of those who would mourn should she fail. Litchi stopped to consider her options. In a possibility created by Phenomenon Intervention, Litchi's desire was devoured by Ragna.

The final encounter with Roy

Back in Kagutsuchi, Litchi searched for Arakune, determined to end it once and for all by saving Roy. Bang and Tao found her, and they travelled together through the sewers to find the monster, but once they did, his strength had increased massively. Tao briefly battled him, and Litchi stepped in to finish the job herself; Arakune began rapidly absorbing the seithr in the air, attempting to become a Black Beast, and swallowed her whole. Inside the Boundary, she met Roy's soul and they were finally reunited. He refused to return, having obtained a position to research endlessly within the Boundary himself. As the Embryo entered the phase of deconstructing everything to seithr, he asked Litchi to return to Embryo and to kill Arakune, as that was his desire. Crying, Litchi resolved to complete his wish, but was knocked out by Bang, who killed Arakune instead, unwilling to let Litchi sully her hands murdering the man she loved. She soon dissolved into seithr, her data backed up by Es.

In the new world created by Ragna, Litchi, with Mai and Kajun, took Platinum to her clinic in Orient Town. The circumstances surrounding this are unknown, but it is presumed that Litchi took Platinum into her care, finally moving on in her life.
