Ex Machina: Minerva (自動人形ミネルヴァ) is an automation equipped with an Idea Engine created by Kokonoe with the explicit purpose of protecting Celica A. Mercury. She is based off of the Nox Nyctores - Deus Machina: Nirvana and the Detonator - Fluctus Redactum: Ignis. She is the Embryo Storage Number. 03.

She debuted in BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma.

Appearance

Minerva is a humanoid automaton with a steel complexion, black metallic hair, and glowing red eyes. Her figure is distinctly feminine with noticeable breasts and hips. Minerva's shoulders are pure black while her torso, arms, and upper thighs are the same steel color as her face. The rest of her legs and her sleeves are a darker gray in color.

There is a large metal hat atop Minerva's head and from its back protrudes a large, thick wire with a plug on the back. Minerva has four arms. The first pair are sleek and human-like with delicate hands, but the second have thick wrists and large, thick hands; above these wrists are large, brass colored plates with the words "ES Embryo Storage No 03". inscribed upon them. When not in use, Minerva's thinner arms fit around her chest.

Across Minerva's clavicle and hips are brass colored plates.

Personality

Like the other automatons, Minerva does not possess a voice module, and only Celica and Noel Vermillion can actually understand her. She apparently possesses a dry sense of humour and has a steadfast dedication to her mistress and keeping her safe. Minerva can be brash at times, attacking anyone she deems a threat to Celica, even if they have good intentions.

Ultimately, she understands what is necessary and is willing to sacrifice herself to save others, even if they are not her mistress.

Powers & Techniques

As she has an Idea Engine equipped, Minerva boasts power that stands equal to Nox Nyctores and Detonator weapons. Because she always close to Celica, Minerva was designed to work using science as Ars Magus would not work in the vicinity of her mistress. On top of this, Minerva is immune to Phenomenon Intervention thanks both in part to her Idea Engine and Celica's presence as she is a Chrono Phantasma (Those Who Should Not Exist).

In gameplay, Minerva acts as Celica's Drive. Her body parts are able to change and transform into numerous different forms and weapons. Minerva can create huge sharp claws, electric cannons, jet propulsive, and sharp blades to name a few. She has enough physical power to throw Celica effortlessly into the air for several seconds and can charge at speeds faster than the eye can see.

Part of Minerva's core is fuelled by Kokonoe's leftover nuclear weapons. Because of this, Minerva can land a suicide attack that has enough power to ravage the planet, but she would never use it unless absolutely necessary.

Library Entry

Minerva

The white automation with an IDEA Engine equipped. Its physical appearance resembles Nirvana -- and it was created by Kokonoe to protect Celica. It was built using data left behind by Nine and Relius.

Relius mentions how 'well it's built' during one of their encounters. [1]

Appearances in other Media

  • Minerva stars as a playable card in the mobile game Mabinogi Duel.

Trivia

  • In gameplay, Minerva is the one who takes damage instead of Celica and does the majority of the fighting. This is similar to Nago and Gii when Rachel is being used.
  • In BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, Minerva's story sprite was quite literally a color swap of Nirvana's, but this was changed in BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Extend where she received an entirely new model.
