The Red Rebel (赤き反逆者) is the first episode of BlazBlue: Alter Memory. It originally aired on October 8th, 2013.

Synopsis

Short

Ragna is on a one-man rampage against the ruling body, the Novus Orbis Librarium.
And a mysterious woman named Rachel directs him to go to the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi next.^[1]

Long

Ragna the Bloodedge has arrived at the cauldron deep within the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi. There, he sees the smelting for Nu-13 has succeeded. She taunts him and the two engage in battle with the Lux Sanctus: Murakumo and Aramasa while Hazama watches the battle. Nu defeats him before he can activate the Azure Grimoire and the two fall into the cauldron. Watching onward from the Alucard Castle, Rachel Alucard bids Ragna goodbye. With this, the world resets.

Now in the next loop, Ragna has infiltrated the Novus Orbis Librarium branch within the 9th Hierarchical City of Akitsu-Kou. Now having destroyed it, he ventures from the location into a forest where he is met by Rachel. The two briefly fight and the vampire pointed him towards Kagutsuchi before she teleported away. Rachel arrived in a scene with Hazama nearby and the two exchanged brief words.

Noel Vermillion arrives at the office of Jin Kisaragi, handing him an important document concerning the events surrounding Ragna's attacks on the various NOL branches. The man recognizes his brother, and cracks an unsettling smile followed by maniacal laughter before leaving for Kagutsuchi. Ragna, now in Kagutsuchi, wanders into an alley, attempting to step over a Kaka who grabs his leg and attacks him before being swiftly defeated. She introduces herself as Taokaka and he treats her to a meal at the "Sum Yu Wu" Chinese restaurant. She showed him a wanted poster of the Grim Reaper although he was shocked at how much it did not look like him. Thinking on Tao's words about relaxing, Ragna has a short flashback before the Azure Grimoire begins to react, reminding him of his training with Jubei. Rachel continues to look onto Ragna from afar.

Noel has now arrived in Kagutsuchi with Hazama. He reminded her of her mission - to apprehend Jin, who has gone AWOL. He also told her to stay away from Ragna at all costs, only to observe him if necessary. Because of their early arrival, he ordered her to explore the city to become familiar with her surroundings before rendezvousing back at the NOL branch. Tao and Ragna continue to wander around the Orient Town district before Ragna's Soul Eater begins to make her feel ill. He separated from her, and laid down to sleep; he began to dream, suffering a nightmare of the attack on Celica A. Mercury's Church‎. He awoke in the lap of Noel, mistaking her for Saya. The two separated before she became confused, believing that she may have met him in the past.

Ragna has now infiltrated the NOL branch of Kagutsuchi. Inside, he is met by Jin and the two began to fight as Jin taunted him over the attack on the church years ago. Using the Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa, Jin fought his older brother, although the Nox Nyctores' power could not defeat Ragna as he activated the Azure Grimoire to knock Jin soundly to the floor, forcing him unconscious. Hazama and Noel arrived at the aftermath, seeing Jin unconscious on the floor. Noel directly disobeyed her orders and ran towards Ragna's direction, although questioning how Hazama was so calm about the event he had witnessed.

Deeper within the branch, Ragna is met by Hakumen. He began to feel fear as Rachel narrated how he has never beaten Hakumen. The episode ends as Hakumen charges towards Ragna with the Interfectum Malus: Ookami.
