The Yasakani no Magatama (ヤサカニノ禍魂) is the primary weapon used by Izanami. While dormant, the weapon takes the form of a complex, yet elegant crown; while being used, however, it takes the form of three floating pieces connected via light beams of energy.

Information

Magatama is an unusual weapon. It seemingly acts in accordance to Izanami's will, constantly floating behind her when it is not being used to assault her opponents. Magatama can target a victim, encircling them and then attacking with a strong electric shock, but is also possible of strong physical attacks, either following up from Izanami's own punches or being sent forward as projectiles. When activated, Magatama's pieces are usually connected via a circular band of energy, but they break free of this to attack, not necessarily needing to be connected with energy to do so.

Each piece of Magatama is identical, being stylistic golden triangles with purple centers. The current location of this weapon is unknown.

Etymology

Yasakani no Magatama takes its name from the Yasakani no Magatama (八尺瓊勾玉) which is one of the three Imperial Regalia of Japan. The most literal translation for BlazBlue's Yasakani no Magatama could be "Dark Soul of Yasakani", which is reflected in a localised name for the weapon in the online lobby for BlazBlue: Central Fiction. In this mode, the weapon is provided as an accessory wearable by one's lobby avatar, and is translated as Yasakani no Dark Soul.
