When Tager awoke, he was no longer in Naobi, but a lab within Sector Seven. He looked to his side and saw Kokonoe, and he was unable to remember much of his memories. She gave him his new name "Tager", having made it up on the spot, and told him of his new body being a mix between machinery and Demon cells. He started into a mirror, attempting to comprehend his appearance. At some point afterwards, he personally requested that Kokonoe seal away every single memory he had, so he wouldn't have to remember his squad being massacred.
Tager's first mission was to find Boundary Interface Prime Field Device's deep inside the 5th Hierarchical City of Ibukido, one of which was the missing Nu-13. Upon his arrival, he briefly saw a green shadow but dismissed it, and ventured deeper into a lab. Three caskets were present, one for Mu-12, Nu, and Lambda-11, with the last being the only one with a specimen still within. He took Lambda away from the facility, quickly returning to Sector Seven as the Prime Field was already deceased and would begin to rot after long. [1] He encountered several Novus Orbis Librarium troops on his way, but managed to defeat them, starting the legend of the "Red Devil". [2]
In 2196, Kokonoe sent Kajun Faycott to the 15th Hierarchical City of Torifune to find the Burning Red Grimoire, hoping that she could use it to further power up Tager. The mission was unsuccessful, however, and he was powered by an Artificial Causality Phenomenon Weapon instead. [3] Later that year, Kokonoe had discovered Hakumen deep within the Boundary and began to prepare for a salvage operation with Tager's assistance. [4]
Variable Heart
A year afterwards, Tager was teleported to the 11th Hierarchical City of Shinatsu to protect Kokonoe, Kajun, Taro Sasagae, Litchi Faye-Ling, and Shiori Kirihito from a group of Fuzzy. [5]
Calamity Trigger
Kokonoe deployed Tager to the 13th Hierarchical City of Kagutsuchi. There he set several devices across the Hierarchical City that were designed to interfere with Hakumen for the salvage operation. After Kokonoe attempted to use Phenomenon Intervention to retrieve the Hero, Tager was sent on a mission to retrieve all the devices he had deployed since Kokonoe did not want to detonate them. His secondary objective was to go towards the Sheol Gate to watch a certain event.
At the cauldron, Tager protected Ragna the Bloodedge from a fatal blow by Yuuki Terumi. He grabbed the Geminus Anguium: Ouroboros and deflected the attack. He noticed that the cauldron was set to detonate and evacuated under Kokonoe's orders - he was reassured by Rachel Alucard that both Ragna and Noel Vermillion would be safe since she would teleport them out herself. [6]
Central Fiction
Alongside Kokonoe and Makoto, Tager was taken by Hibiki into a meeting with Kagura, where he explained the events of the last few months. [7] Tager, like everyone else, was absorbed into the Embryo floating above Ibukido, and his memories were altered so that he believed the date was the 12/31/2199, and that Bullet had always been a part of Sector Seven.
He was deployed alongside Bullet to Kagutsuchi inside the Embryo to find the Azure Grimoire. He was found by Litchi, who asked him if he was hunting for Arakune, and the two parted ways on friendly terms, believing that they had not seen each other for years due to their altered memories [8] later finding her battling against Noel in Roningai – they both escaped from the lieutenant. [9] Tager eventually found Ragna at the Monorail and began fighting him to delay time for the arrival of NOL soldiers and Kagura. [10]
He was later transported to Ikaruga by Nine the Phantom and told to kill Izanami to claim his piece of the Azure. He contacted Kokonoe and was told to rendezvous at Yabiko, and if possible, secure Noel. [11] He found Arakune in Kazamotsu, but retreated after he was attacked as the monster’s power had substantially increased since the last time they fought. [12] Tager also found Hakumen and was ordered to bring him in by Kokonoe, although he struggled to, and relented after Hakumen began mocking him, calling him a puppet, not a devil [13] He would soon make it to Yabiko and discussed the compared his distorted memories to Kagura, Kokonoe, and Hibiki’s. [14]
Bullet eventually managed to make contact with Tager and they met in Yabiko. He told her to not pursue Arakune, but she still went out of her way to, and several memories came back the Red Devil over her. [15] Mai and Noel would arrived thanks to Kagura – Tager and Mai had not spoken for some time and both found enjoyed the reunion. [16] In Akitsu, Tager found Litchi near its cauldron and discovered that Arakune is not Roy, but merely a vessel he created. The cyborg told the doctor to stop, to consider all of the people who would mourn her if she failed to bring him back. [17] He was later ordered to return to Yabiko and detain Ragna. [18] He did not manage to complete this objective, and instead created several teleportation coordinates for Kokonoe to use so multiple people could travel to Japan.
Bullet called out for Tager to meet her in the Colosseum. There she confronted him, all her memories returned, about him being the captain of her mercenary squad. Tager revealed to her that all his memories of that life had been sealed away and he was no longer that man. They fought, one last request from his former subordinate, and he lost to her. He watched as Bullet took her own path in life, no longer having the past weigh her down. [19] The following morning, he was part of the strike squadron sent to Nine’s workshop, where he monitored the control systems. [20]
He was evacuated out of the area and journeyed to Celica A. Mercury’s Church where he set up a teleporter that was to be activated the following morning. [21] He witnessed Celica’s death before teleporting everyone out of the area. [22] Tager later helped Lambda with organising the coordinates for everyone’s arrival in the frozen space-time of the Embryo. [23] During the Doomsday, Tager evaporated into seithr, his data backed up by Es. [24]
In the new world created by Ragna, Tager was seen in Yabiko on a mission with Bullet, who had returned to Sector Seven. He was on the phone to Kokonoe. [25]

TR-0009 Tager
A cyborg warrior who works under the jurisdiction of sector seven. From his appearance, he gained the nickname, ‘Red devil.’
He used to be a military man, but after becoming gravely wounded during the Ikaruga Civil War, Kokonoe retrieved his body and rebuilt it into the cyborg that he is today. Thanks to combining his devil-like cells with a transplanted replica of Nirvana’s core, his life is spared, but not his memory. The devil-like cells also have an effect on his appearance.
Contrary to his outward appearance, he is gentle and honest. When it comes to missions, he is loyal and versatile, making him Kokonoe’s instant favorite to carry out her orders. In addition to tracking the escaped Hakumen in Kagutsuchi, he retrieved Noel after she became the Eye of the Azure. Kokonoe would be at a loss without his prowess.
After bringing Noel and makoto to Sector Seven HQ, he is dispatched by Kokonoe to Ikaruga… for his next mission.[26]
