Tenjou Amanohokosaka was the one of the previous Imperator's of the Novus Orbis Librarium. She was the mentor of Bang Shishigami and Kagura Mutsuki, and the mother of Homura Amanohokosaka.
She was assassinated during the Ikaruga Civil War.
Appearance
Tenjou had large, deep red eyes, and long purple hair. White skin, pale lips, and eyelashes the same colour as her hair - her eyelids looked as if they could fall at any moment, and most would think she was beautiful. To Jin Kisaragi, she looked exactly like his sister, Saya.
Towards the end of her life, Tenjou wore long white robes with red patterned lines running across it. On top of this she wore a purple robe, the same colour as her hair - both of these robes ran down past her feet. On her head, she wore a small purple beret with multiple ornaments adorning it. She was last seen wearing a white mask with a red emblem near the eyes and nose; it covered her entire face.
As a child, Tenjou wore this same beret, and much smaller versions of the robes she would wear in adulthood. They seemed to big for her as a child.
Personality
She spoke with a dignified aura, using older words and showing no fear in the face of death. Tenjou cared greatly for her people and her child, Homura, and would go above and beyond for them both.
Biography
Born to the Amanohokosaka Clan, Tenjou became the Imperator at a young age, and took on two students - Kagura Mustuki and Bang Shishigami, with both becoming members of her personal guard. The details are unknown, but the body she was in was a vessel she was possessing. At some point, Tenjou met a man with brown hair and they had a child together - Homura Amanohokosaka. She would regularly have meetings with the Duodecim.
In the Ikaruga Civil War, a coup d'etat was performed that removed Tenjou from her seat of power by Hazama, Yuuki Terumi, Relius Clover, and Meifang Lapislazuli. She formed the Ikaruga Federation, created an alliance with Sector Seven and the NOL declared war against her. At one point, they were winning the war, but Tenjou had wished to end the war without casualty; the Committee pressured for the war to continue, and she was forced to. Rumours had circulated at this time that she wore a mask to hide a huge scar over her face.
Spiral Shift
She had planned to transfer her soul into the Nox Nyctores - Deus Machina: Nirvana, but Relius stole it, and she was unable to do so. She went down to the basement of the Wadatsumi Castle and looked at the Kushinada's Lynchpin and Phoenix: Rettenjou, taking the latter as she knew it was the last thing she could transfer her soul into, even if it meant living a life where she could not feel - anything. Tenjou transferred her soul, but remained in control of her former body, carrying herself out of the area. [1]
Later on, Tenjou would give the Rettenjou, with her soul inside, to Bang, and issued for her ninjas to evacuate the castle, but Bang stayed by his mistresses' side. Jin Kisaragi stormed the castle using the Mucro Algesco: Yukianesa, and fought Bang, leaving him permanently scarred, and froze the entire room using his Arctic Dungeon technique. Tenjou talked to Jin while Bang screamed for her to escape, but she stayed, and asked him to kill her and to fight against the "death" that will be born. She threw a charm at him, baiting him to kill her - Jin used his Yukikaze technique and killed Tenjou's old body. Jin's memories were erased by Terumi, and Tenjou's old body was replaced by someone with a large scar on their face to match the rumours. [2]
Chrono Phantasma
Bang finally came to realise that Tenjou's soul lay inside the Rettenjou he had been gifted years earlier. Rachel Alucard came to the realisation that there was another way to activate the Lynchpin without using Celica A. Mercury's soul as the catalyst. Tenjou's soul was used instead, and the Rettenjou was hammered into the Lynchpin, stopping the flow of seithr.
Central Fiction
Tenjou's soul was still anchored inside the Lynchpin inside the Embryo. Ragna the Bloodedge took Tenjou's dream using his Soul Eater, and promised her that he would look after the people of Ikaruga, Bang, and most importantly, Homura.
Powers and Techniques
An Arts user who used charms to fight, almost suggesting that she was a practitioner of Exorcism. Tenjou had a weak body, and used her mask as a filter for seithr. Despite her physical fragility, she had a remarkably strong soul, remaining inside both the Rettenjou and then Kushinada's Lynchpin, and was able to activate the latter. As her dreams were taken from her by Ragna, it is possible that even after death, she was still marked as one of the chosen.
Trivia
- In the Japanese versions of all games, Tenjou's gender was never disclosed, and in English localisation, she was considered male before the release of BlazBlue: Spiral Shift - Ice Blade Hero confirmed that Tenjou was a woman.
