MORI Toshimichi (森利道) was the producer and creator of the BlazBlue series. He is the main illustrator for BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma.
Career
MORI Toshimichi joined Arc System Works on October 1, 2003,[1] after being invited to the company by Daisuke Ishiwatari. The first project he worked on was Guilty Gear Isuka, he came up with the functional designs of A.B.A. and Robo-Ky Mk. II. Next, in Guilty Gear XX Slash, he served as the director and worked on the technical and visual aspects of Order-Sol. Some years down the line, MORI realized he wanted to challenge himself to create a new game with all the experience he gained; thus BlazBlue was born.[2] On September 25, 2022, MORI Toshimichi announced his departure from Arc System Works, stating he wants to continue creating and delivering games for the users.[3][4]
On February 28, 2023, it was announced that MORI Toshimichi, alongside AOKI Toshinori, former vice president of Marvelous Inc., established Studio Flare, a game development studio based in Tokyo, with financial support from NetEase Games. His aim is to "create games with an edgy feel that bring excitement to hardcore gamers."[5], with his first planned project being an action game.[6]
