Overview

ICEY is BlazBlue Entropy Effect's first collaboration character with the side-scrolling hack-and-slash game of the same name, ICEY. Being the first playable Prototype that was handmade by 91Act, ICEY's character is visually very different from the rest of the cast as she doesn't use ArcSys's sprites or ICEY's original animations. Having no voice herself, the Narrator takes her place by making remarks rarely when playing as her. ICEY specializes in combos as she unlocks several Potentials that unlock new moves that come from pressing different button inputs. Additionally, she has one of the best Dashes in the game, having an infinite dash that can go in any direction. If you enjoy the idea of playing as the "Strongest Katana Girl of Today", pick ICEY!

Prototype Abilities

Talent: Mechanized Enemy

ICEY or the inheriting Prototype deals increased damage to mechanical enemies, and instant-kill them when they're at low health. An interesting Talent that helps deal with mechanical enemies. While there is lots of them, the damage increase is not large enough to warrant inheriting it over others.

Unique Mechanics:

No Automatic MP Regeneration: ICEY is the only Prototype that does not gain MP over time. Instead, ICEY recovers MP when dealing damage with her Attacks. This means that her ability to perform several Skills in a row hinders on your ability to regenerate MP either through kills or weaving in Attacks. With many of her strongest Skills costing a large amount of MP, it can feel very hard to maintain damage as ICEY. Becoming comfortable with her various combos is necessary as you'll be constantly moving back and forth between using them and Skills.

Armor Broken Status: ICEY has a unique status effect that she can inflict on enemies. This can either be inflicted by dealing a significant amount of damage to an enemy or by using certain moves when their Hidden Effects are unlocked, such as Pummel's 3rd hit. You can tell if an enemy has the Armor Broken status if they have a triangle mark over them. Once inflicted, using Regeneration will teleport ICEY to the marked enemy, attack them, and then remove that status. Cleansing an enemy of the Armor Broken status will deal an additional attack to them and recover a small bit of MP to ICEY. When it is further upgrade, it will even recover HP for ICEY.

Legacy Skill 1: Otherworldly Voice

Summons an unknown and strange sound that brings all sorts of unexpected effects. The strength of the effect increases with each level. A utility Legacy Skill that has a chance to give a random buff, or rarely a debuff.

Available Buffs:

  • +20% overall damage.
  • A shield that blocks one attack. This does not give you Super Armor and does not protect you from losing your Combo and Killstreak counter.
  • MP Regen buff for a total of 94 MP.

Available Debuff:

  • Temporarily reversed directional inputs.

Legacy Skill 2: Otherworldly Blade

Summons ICEY to dash forward and unleash multiple slashes upon contact with enemies. Her damage increases with each level. A simple Legacy Skill that is useful for clearly out small amounts of enemies.

Potentials

[Ground] Attack: ICEY performs a 4 hit combo. Each hit generates a small amount of MP.

  • Quadra Slash: [Ground] Attack x5: Adds an additional at the end of the [Ground] Attack combo that causes ICEY to perform a spinning slash.
  • Uppercut: [Ground] Up + Attack: Performs a leaping slash that hits twice.

Hidden Effects

Hold Attack: ICEY performs a large multi-hit slash. MP:100

  • EX Overload: [Ground] Hold Attack: When at least 10 SP is available, consume all SP and unleash an enhanced version of Overload.

Hidden Effects

Jump: Default is two jumps.

  • [Airborne] Attack: A 3 hit combo while [Airborne].
    • Cyclone: [Airborne] Attack x4: Adds an additional downward spinning slash to the end of the [Airborne] Attack combo.
  • Vertical Cut: [Airborne] Down + Attack: ICEY performs a quick plunging attack.
  • ICEY can now triple jump. When she gets hit, she can jump to recover immediately and become invincible for 1 second.
  • Interrupting attacks with a jump will recovery a small amount of MP. Jumping while [Airborne] will reset the [Airborne] Attack limit.

Hidden Effects

Dash: ICEY performs a short Dash forward. ICEY's Dashing has Invincible Dodge Frames.

  • ICEY can now Dash 2 times and in any direction.
  • ICEY can now Dash 5 times.
  • Regeneration and [Ground] Dashes will not interrupt ICEY's Attack combo.

Hidden Effects

Skill: ICEY performs a 3 hit combo. The final hit of the [Airborne] Skill combo will slam small enemies into the ground. *Does not cost MP.

  • MP does not regenerate over time, but is instead recovered by attacking.
  • Steel Breaker: [Ground] Hold Skill: ICEY will perform a strong thrust forward.
    • Steel Breaker goes farther and pulls enemies in.
  • If ICEY has 25 MP, Pummel will consume it to enhance its damage and range. Enhanced Pummel attacks will give ICEY Dodge Frames.

Hidden Effects

  • (Enhancened Pummel and Armor Broken State): The third hit of the Pummel combo will inflict the Armor Broken status.

Unlocks several new moves. The Attack combo does NOT need to be performed, just buffered.

  • Sweep: [Ground] Attack > Skill: Performs a quick slash that launches small enemies.
  • Sweep: [Airborne] Attack > Skill: Performs a downward slash that slams enemies into the ground.
  • Skewer: Attack > Attack > Skill: Performs several quick thrusts in front of ICEY.
  • Brutal Blade: Attack > Attack > Attack > Skill: Performs two quick dashes back and forth, which pull enemies in.
  • Bounceback: [Ground] Attack > Attack > Attack > Attack > Skill: Performs a large horizontal thrust which pulls enemies in.
  • Skewer > Skill: Performs Bounceback immediately after Skewer.
  • Brutal Blade > Skill: Perfroms Uppercut immediately after Brutal Blade. *Part of the Potential above in-game.

Hidden Effects

Unlocks new Skills.

  • Deadly Disc: Up + Skill: ICEY performs a spinning attack that deals more damage on the final hit. MP:50
  • Shadow Dance: Down + Skill: ICEY summons a clone that targets an enemy and attacks them. MP:50
    • The clone will explode after attacking.
    • Swap: Down + Hold Skill: ICEY will swap positions with the clone after its attack finishes.

Hidden Effect

  • [Ground] Down + Action: ICEY enters the "Sheathing" stance, during which she can perform new moves.
    • Divide: Sheathing > Attack: Performs a quick upward slash that launches small enemies.
    • Neutralize: Sheathing > Skill: Performs a quick horizontal slash. ICEY will Block attacks during this slash. When blocking an attack, ICEY will recover 200 MP and gain a brief amount of Invulnerability Frames. MP:100
  • Resonance: [Ground] Up + Action: ICEY enters the "Charging" stance, during which she can perform new moves.
    • Surge: Charging > Attack: ICEY sends forward a large slashing projectile. Continue pressing Attack to send more projectiles. MP:25
    • Shift: Charging > Skill: ICEY performs a downward slash in front of her. This consumes All MP and the damage of the attack scales with consumed MP. Press Action during this attack to teleport behind an enemy in the Armor Broken status.
  • ICEY has Dodge Frames when performing Divide and Invulnerability Frames when performing Shift.
  • The Integration and Charging stances can be used while [Airborne].

Hidden Effects

  • (Resonance + Dodge and Invulnerability Frames): Sheathing and Charging stance provide a small amount of Invincible Dodge Frames.
  • (Dash: 2 Dashes + No combo interruption and Dodge and Invulnerability Frames): After blocking an attack with Neutralize, press Skill to perform Neutralize again.
  • (Sheathing and Charging stance while [Airborne] and Universal Enhancement: Armor Broken status with shield): When blocking an attack with Neutralize, the enemy will be put in the Armor Broken status.
  • (Resonance and Dash: No combo interruption): If Shift hits an enemy with the Armor Broken status, it will remove the status in exchange for dealing extra damage. If that attack kills said enemy, pressing Up + Action will teleport ICEY to a nearby enemy and perform Shift again.
  • (Resonance, Dash: No combo interruption, and Regeneration: Inflict Armor Broken status): Shift will deal additional damage to enemies inflicted with the Armor Broken status.
  • (Resonance and Regeneration: Increased MP recovery): If Surge hits an enemy with the Armor Broken status, it will remove the status in exchange for dealing extra damage. If Surge hits an enemy without the Armor Broken status, it will inflict it instead. This effect can only happen on the same enemy once within a short period.
  • (Resonance, Dance of Death, and Dash: No combo interruption): The speed of Surge's consecutive projectiles is increased.

After dealing a certain amount of damage to an enemy, they will enter the Armor Broken status. This is visualized by the signature triangle mark that hovers on the enemy.

  • Regeneration: Action: ICEY teleports behind an enemy that is in the Armor Broken status to launch a small shockwave attack that recovers MP and SP. While Regeneration is active, ICEY has Invulnerability Frames.
    • Regeneration now recovers some HP.
    • Regeneration has improved MP recovery.
    • Activation Regeneration has a chance to inflict the Armor Broken status on a nearby enemy.

Hidden Effects

  • (Universal Enhancement: Armor Broken status with shield and Regeneration: HP recovery): The area of effect from Regeneration can remove the Armor Broken status on nearby enemies.
  • (Regeneration: Inflict Armor Status on nearby enemies + Increased MP recovery): Enemies are more likely to be inflicted with the Armor Broken status.
  • (Regeneration: HP recovery + Increased MP recovery): Regeneration deals additional damage equal to a percentage of the enemy's maximum HP.
  • (Dash: 5 Dashes and Regeneration: HP recovery + Increased MP recovery): Attacking quickly will increase the damage dealt for a short time.
  • (EX Overload and Regeneration: HP recovery + Increased MP recovery): Regeneration's attack range is increased.
  • (Regeneration: Inflict Armor Status on nearby enemies and Dash: 5 Dashes): Regeneration can be cancelled into Regeneration faster.

Universal Enhancements affect multiple moves.

  • Vitality: Hold Action: ICEY generates a shield that can absorb damage. MP:50
    • While the shield is active, taking damage has a chance to inflict the Armor Broken status on the attacking enemy.
    • Increases the health of the shield.
  • Increases ICEY MP recovery efficiency.
