Strategy

Hakumen is a power character, with explosive strength behind each attack. His dash is only a step, reducing his mobility, but he specializes in taking advantage of the opponent's openings, then hitting them for massive damage.

Hakumen's Heat Gauge is a Magatama Gauge instead, and increases over time. The rate of increase is higher on the ground than in the air. Once the gauge fills, a Magatama is gained, and up to 8 can be stocked up. Hakumen needs to consume Magatama to use special attacks, but if he has enough, he can chain special attacks into each other. You start a match with only 1 Magatama, so first you want to restrain your opponent until the gauge fills up.

← + C has long reach and fast attack speed. At mid-range, keep an eye on the opponent while staying where ← + C will barely still reach them, then lay it on them when they try to make a move.

If the opponent attacks from the air, counter them with Crouching C or Jumping C. If they rush you, Standing A or Standing D are effective. Once the Magatama Gauge fills, it's time for Hakumen to go on the offensive. If attacking the from the ground, use 1 Magatama abilities like Guren or Kishuu into Enma. If Guren or Enma are guarded, use the middle attack Zantetsu or Low attack Renka to shake up their guard, or Crouching A to solidify your position.

The 2 Magatama ability, Yanagi is a moving atemi technique. While moving, you will block and counter any attack besides throws and unblockable abilities. Use this to close the distance to your opponent. When the enemy draws near, use → + B or normal throws, which can't be crouch guarded. Once you have a little distance, put the pressure back on with Guren or Kishuu.[1]
