Entering a Phantom Field to strengthen Rei's powers of Observation, they encounter a mysterious girl with horns and a tail called Mai. Unlike the last time they met, this Mai doesn't bear any animosity towards them. While trying to return to Fugaku, they continue through the Phantom Field. During their journey, they discover her conviction and obsession.
