Most of Tenjō's abilities are named after Chinese Constellations important within Taoist Astrology and Onmyodo Stellar Divination. Several of her traits and abilities borrow from the core constellations of the Four Heavenly Beasts.
- The Dipper, Ox, Encampment and the Emptiness are core constellations within the part of the starmap associated with Genbu, the Black Turtle of the North.
- The Heart and Belly are core constellations within the part of the starmap associated with Seiryu, the Azure Dragon of the East.
- The Mane and Paws are core constellations within the part of the starmap associated with Byakko, the White Tiger of the West.
- The Ghost and Willow are core constellations within the part of the starmap associated with Suzaku, the Crimson Phoenix of the South.
Onmyodo talismans often have star charts or constellations drawn on them to invoke certain aspects of the elements or of certain divinities relating to certain parts of the night sky. Many of the techniques Tenjō uses make use of these talismans.
