Overview

Ragna the Bloodedge is BlazBlue Entropy Effect's resident bruiser. Specializing in a high risk, high reward game plan, Ragna will sacrifice chunks of his health bar for huge screen-wide attacks such as Carnage Scissors. Playing Ragna requires you to balance your health for damage, then using Black Onslaught to get you out of tricky situations. Sporting a plethora of invincible moves, Ragna has the ability to play the game at his pace and lets you overwhelm any enemy you encounter.

Prototype Abilities

Talent: Wrath of Death

After HP is Reduced, Skill damage increases by 25% for 10 seconds. A core part of Ragna's kit which gives him a damage increase to his Skills every time he loses health. This can come from any source of external damage or from his own health draining attacks. Additionally, this buff can stack, with each stack giving you a decreasing damage buff. The first stack gives you 25%, the second 25%, 13%, 8%, 4%, 4%, 3%, 3%, 1%. . . Even taking 4 instances of damage will grant you a 71% damage boost to your skills.

Unique Mechanic: Blood Drain

When using any attack with an MP cost, Ragna will drain some of his own current HP in exchange for high Skill damage. If the Skill lands, you will also heal some HP after a short delay. You can gain additional healing by hitting multiple enemies with the same move, but with diminishing returns for each additional enemy hit. The healing and draining amount depends on each individual move, but they all scale off of his HP. Draining will always consume a percentage of your current health, while Healing will regain health based on your maximum health. This means that your skills will cost more HP if you use them when close to full health, and less HP if you use them while closer to death. The healing amount will remain the same regardless of if you're at full health or not, but will instead increase as you raise your maximum HP through things like Mind Upgrade or getting HP Increases during a run.

It's important to keep this mind while playing Ragna, because you won't be able to out-heal the drain amount done by using Skills at full HP. Because of this, Ragna will always be anywhere from 30% to 60% of his maximum HP. Ragna's draining system is not designed to be a free healing tool, but instead a risk and reward system. If you can play aggressively with skills at low HP, you can sustain their cost while also healing back any small damage amounts you take from enemies. However, you run the risk of dying to heavy burst damage or draining your HP at a bad time.

With Universal Enhancement: Blood Kain, Ragna can augment this system even further by expanding it to drain from Skills and Attacks. Universal Enhancement: Soul Devour will increase the amount of risk and reward by making Ragna heal less at high HP, but deal less damage and heal more at low HP. Through Universal Enhancement: Costs Less HP, he can also make the system slightly safer by reducing the amount of HP that's drained overall.

Legacy Skill 1: Dead Spike

Consumes 20% of current HP to launch an attack with a recovery effect if it hits an enemy. The recovery effect increases with each level. Sends forward the projectile that comes from Ragna's charged Attack. Like Ragna's many skills, this will sacrifice 20% of your current HP and heal you afterward upon hitting an enemy. Because of its rather low HP cost, you can use this to heal your current Prototype when at low health which scales the higher your maximum HP is at.

Legacy Skill 2: Blood Kain [EX]

Continuously reduces HP for 10 seconds, but all damage dealt is increased by 12% and all attacks have a recovery effect. The damage increase effect increases with each level. A very unique property of this Legacy Skill is that it additionally increases the damage of your Tactics, which is very rare amongst all buffs in the game. That 12% is enough to push certain Tactic builds very far. What makes this Legacy Skill extremely powerful is it is a very cheap and effective way to crank up your Skill damage boost thanks to the HP draining effect triggering Ragna's Legacy Evotype Talent with every tick of HP taken. Just using this Skill will ramp your damage up insanely high and is one of the best sources of Skill buffing in the game.

Potentials

[Ground] Attack: A combo that attacks 4 times.

  • Deals more damage in a larger range.
  • While this is active, Ragna has Super Armor.
  • Demon's Wave: [Ground] Attack > Skill: Sends a shockwave after attacking and recovers HP. MP:50

Jump: Default is two jumps.

  • [Airborne] Attack: Slashes forward once, then does a plunging attack. Holding down when attacking will make Ragna plunge immediately.
    • While [Airborne], Ragna can Jump or Dash to reset the attack limit of his [Airborne] Attacks.
    • Gauntlet Hades: [Airborne] Attack > Skill > Skill: After attacking in the air, click Skill twice to do a rising kick into a vertical Dead Spike. Recovers HP. MP:50 per Skill.
    • Nightmare Edge: [Airborne] Down + Attack > Skill > Skill: After using [Airborne] Down + Attack, click Skill twice to do an overhead slash into a Dead Spike. Recovers HP. MP:50 per Skill.
  • Ragna can now triple jump. When he gets hit, he can jump to recover immediately and become invincible for 1 second.

Hidden Effects

Dash: Ragna dashes forward. Dashing has Dodge Frames.

  • Ragna can now Triple Dash.
  • Dashing now goes farther.
  • Dash Attack goes farther, deals more damage, and can be cancelled with another Dash.
  • Carnage Scissors: [Blink] Dash > Skill: Dashes very far forward with a slash, then releases the second half of Carnage Scissors. MP:100

Hidden Effects

  • (Triple Dash + Increased Dash range): During Ragna's Dash Attack, press Attack again to do another Dash Attack up to 3 times.
  • (Carnage Scissors [Blink] and Devoured by Darkness): Dash > Hold Skill will change the second hit to Devoured by Darkness. MP:150

[Ground] Skill: Spends 40% of current HP to release two massive strikes in front of Ragna, each recovering HP. MP:100

  • [Airborne] Skill: Spends 40% of current HP to release a single massive impact in front of Ragna, recovering HP. MP:100
  • Deals more damage in a larger area.
  • Ragna has Super Armor while using Carnage Scissors, with a brief amount of Invulnerability Frames during the start-up.
  • Ragna can use the first and second swing of Carnage Scissors individually, with each costing less MP.

Hidden Effects

[Ground] Dash > Attack: Lunges forward with Ragna's claws to attack.

  • [Airborne] Dash > Attack: Flies forward with a kick.
  • Dash Attack is larger and does more damage with multiple hits.
  • Part of the Dash Attack is invulnerable.
  • Dash > Attack > Skill > Skill: After using Dash Attack, press Skill twice to release Dead Spike, then a massive sword swing. Recovers HP. MP:50

[Ground] Hold Attack: Slashes upward which sends a Dead Spike forward.

  • The Dead Spike will move farther forward and recover HP.
  • Deals more damage and can break Super Armor.

Hidden Effects

[Ground] Up + Attack: Rise while slashing upwards with brief invincibility during the attack.

  • Deals more instances of damage and gains more invincibility frames.
  • Can be activated mid-air.
  • [Airborne] Down + Dash: Dives and slashes diagonally downwards.
  • [Airborne] Down + Skill: Uses an axe kick while airborne. MP:50
  • [Ground] Up + Attack > Up + Attack > Up + Attack: Rises with Inferno Divider, then follows up with an aerial uppercut, then straight punch.

Hidden Effects

  • (Inferno Divider: Down + Dash and Attack: Demon's Wave): [Airborne] Down + Dash > Skill: Releases a large impact after Down + Dash Divekick. MP:50
  • (Inferno Divider: Down + Dash and Attack: Demon's Wave): [Airborne] Down + Dash > Attack: Releases a short shockwave after Down + Dash Divekick.

Up + Skill: Consumes 27% of current HP to slash in a large area, which recovers HP. MP:100

  • Blood Scythe recovers more HP.
  • Blood Scythe now makes Ragna invincible and no longer consumes HP.

Hidden Effects

Hold Skill: Spends 60% of current HP to grab an enemy. Upon grabbing an enemy, uses a large Area of Effect attack that recovers HP. MP:100

  • Ragna can still use the Area of Effect follow-up even when not grabbing an enemy.

Down + Skill: Spends 90% of current HP to use a huge Area of Effect attack that recovers a large amount of HP. SP:100

  • SP: Earn SP when spending HP.
  • Some recovery effects take effect immediately.

Universal Enchancements affect multiple moves.

  • Blood Kain: Each attack costs HP, but they deal more damage and recover HP.
