Forbidden Gate -Altar- is the stage of Es in BlazBlue: Central Fiction. It is the Gate that leads directly to the Azure within the Boundary. Only those that Es and the Azure deem worthy may enter past this gate.

Information

Having existed for an unknown amount of time, Es was suddenly summoned by the Azure to become its guardian. She judges those who should enter past those gates. In multiple instances, various individuals accidentally found the Forbidden Gate by entering a cauldron. Mu-12 accidentally found herself here, but was repelled by Es[1]; Naoto Kurogane found himself in a similar situation, but was also defeated.[2]

Some time later, Yuuki Terumi appeared at the Forbidden Gate, insistent on his goal to obtain the Azure, also with an unconscious Noel Vermillion in his grasp. He revealed to Es that he had reclaimed the Susano'o Unit and assumed his true form as Susano'o. Es attempted to defeat him, but the God's victory had already been Observed by The Origin within the Amaterasu Unit. She teleported away before she could be killed.[3] She later returned and met Amane Nishiki, who saw her off as she dissolved into seithr as a part of the process of Doomsday.[4]

Susano'o waited for Ragna the Bloodedge, Jin Kisaragi, and Trinity Glassfille. The three of them defeated Susano'o using a combination of Soul Eater and a faux Hihiirokane created by Platinum the Trinity.[5] Ragna and Terumi were permitted entry into the Forbidden Gate, and battled for the Azure within the Azure Horizon.[6] Ragna was victorious and returned to the Gate, where he battled and defeated Jin and Noel, taking their wishes with Soul Eater. He entrusted their safety to Trinity, and met with Amane, who congratulated him for claiming the Azure and saving the world from Doomsday. Ragna walked to the Amaterasu Unit, and both him and the Sankishin entered the Azure Horizon.[7][8]

The Forbidden Gate was last seen behind Es before she disappeared to an unknown location.[9]

Physically, the Forbidden Gate is an imposing doorway that levitates above the barren white ground beneath. The gate towers into the clouds, and is an ivory color with various azure lines, runes, and patterns running across it. In the center is an engraving of the crest that appears when Ragna activates the Azure Grimoire. A light fog covers the ground, and the pure white sky has various clouds circling around the gate. Above the Forbidden Gate is the Amaterasu Unit.

The stage itself is similar to Altar.

Trivia

  • Forbidden Gate -Altar- and BLUE are two stages that are occasionally banned in competitive play for Central Fiction. The reason for this is usually due to Parallax scrolling problems with the two stages, meaning that it is difficult to see when one is approaching the corner of the stage itself. Whether or not these stages are banned is up to the tournament organizer's discretion.
