Potential Count

25 Potentials (+500%)

Overview

Mai is a character who has no real specialty. A jack-of-all-trades character that can go from zooming across the screen to being immobile while dealing high damage. Playing Mai requires you to be aware of the best time to shift between spamming invulnerable moves for crowd control or using her unique Ayanishiki Stance moves for MP dumping and combo-ing enemies susceptible to being launched. While maneuvering with her can be clunky at first, learning her movement can be very beneficial for newcomers to BBEE.

Prototype Abilities

Talent: Make Haste

After using a Skill, gained +130% base Attack damage for 3 seconds. While the buff is short, +130% is nothing to scoff at. Depending on the Prototype who inherits it, this can be a massive damage increase for a majority of their kit.

Legacy Skill 1: Maple Blossom

Summon two tornados that spin in a circle and deal damage while pulling in enemies hit. Useful for its potent crowd control abilities, running Mai's first Legacy Skill will ensure small enemies rarely get the chance to overwhelm you.

Legacy Skill 2: Maple Gust

Summon a large tornado that travels forwards, dealing damage and pulling in enemies hit. Similar to Mai's first Legacy Skill, a large tornado is summoned in the direction your Prototype is facing. Dealing more damage and going farther gives even more space for Mai to get out of bad situations with good crowd control.

Potentials

Jump: Default is two jumps.

  • Mai can now Triple Jump. When she gets hit, she can jump to recover immediately and become invincible for 1 second.
  • Moon Blossom: Up + Jump: Mai performs a higher jump that makes her invincible. Using this in the air will reset the [Airborne] Attack limit.

[Airborne] Attack: Mai performs a single downward slash.

  • Sanzashi: [Airborne] Attack > Attack or [Airborne] Up + Attack: Mai performs a short lunging attack directly ahead of her. Acts as a 2nd hit of Mai's [Airborne] Attack combo.
    • Sanzashi now sends shockwaves forward.
    • Sanzashi now breaks Super Armor.
    • Sanzashi now makes Mai invincible.
  • Sylvan Hurricane Assault: [Airborne] Attack > Attack > Attack or [Airborne] Down + Attack: Mai performs a plunging attack with her javelin. Acts as a 3rd hit of Mai's [Airborne] Attack combo.
    • Sylvan Hurricane Assault now has a larger range.
    • Sylvan Hurricane Assault now breaks Super Armor.
    • Sylvan Hurricane Assault now makes Mai invincible.

Hidden Effects

Dash: Performs a short dash forward. Mai has Dash Invulnerability while Dashing.

  • Dash > Attack: Performs a javelin thrust at the end of her Dash.
  • The range of Mai's Dash Attack is increased and now has Dash Invulnerability.
  • Himeyuri: [Ground] Dash > Up + Dash: Mai now performs an additional Dashing thrust, making her airborne in the process.
  • Suzuran: [Airborne] Dash > Down + Dash: Mai performs a downward-diagonal Dashing thrust, bringing her to the ground.
  • Mai no longer performs the initial Dash and goes straight into Himeyuri or Suzuran depending on whether she is on the ground or in the air. She can also now use two of these lunging thrusts in a row.

Hidden Effects

  • (Himeyuri and Suzuran): Mai can now perform Himeyuri and Suzuran after each other.
  • (All Dash Potentials): Mai can now perform 3 lunging thrusts in a row.

Skill: Mai throws her javelin forward. It pierces all enemies and will keep going until it hits a wall. MP:100

  • The javelin will restore MP based on the number of enemies hit when returning to Mai.
  • Javelins thrown straight will pull enemies with them to the wall.
  • [Ground] Hold Skill + Left/Right: Mai will alter the angle of the javelin throw. Javelins thrown at an angle will bounce off of the ground and walls, increasing damage for each bounce. MP:100
  • [Airborne] Skill + Left/Right: Mai will alter the angle of the javelin throw. Javelins thrown at an angle will bounce off of the ground and walls, increasing damage for each bounce. MP:100

Hidden Effects

  • (Exseal: Restores MP + Pulls enemies): The javelin will now also restore MP for enemies hit on its way out, rather than just on its way back.
  • (All Exseal Potentials): When the javelin returns to Mai, a short flash will appear. Pressing Skill again will throw the javelin out again and it deals more damage. The damage caps on the third javelin throw.

[Ground] Up + Skill: Mai summons a giant tornado in front of her. It slowly moves forward, gathering enemies. MP:100

  • The tornado is larger and the there is an additional tornado on Mai's 4th hit of her [Ground] Attack combo or Heavy Strike.

[Ground] Hold Down + Mash Attack: Changes the 3rd hit of Mai's [Ground] Attack combo to a flurry of stabs, known as Thousand Spears.

  • Flurry of the Winter Moon: [Ground] Hold Down + Mash Attack > Mash Skill: Mashing Skill during Thousand Spears will make Mai perform Flurry of the Winter Moon, a much larger slashing move that makes her completely invincible while using it. MP:30

Hidden Effects

[Ground] Down + Skill: Mai spins the javelin around her, drawing all enemies in before slamming them down. SP:100

  • SP: Earn SP when Mai's Skills hit enemies.

[Ground] Dash > Skill: Mai performs a much stronger forward javelin thrust with her javelin, breaking Super Armor. Mai has invincibility while using this. MP:50

  • Hold Skill to perform a stronger javelin thrust.
  • Costs less MP.
  • [Airborne] Dash > Skill: Mai will perform a downward Moon Blossom to the ground before using [Ground] Floral Blizzard Blossom.

Hidden Effects

[Ground] Hold Attack: Mai enters the Ayanishiki stance, unlocking special moves that can be performed by clicking other buttons. The damage of these moves will be increased the longer you the stance.

  • Ayanishiki『Surge』: [Ground] Hold Attack > Dash: Mai performs a quick, overhead kick that breaks Super Armor.
    • [Ground] Hold Attack > Dash > Dash: Pressing Dash again will make Mai perform another kick after the 1st, dealing even more damage.
  • Ayanishiki『Dipper』: [Ground] Hold Attack > Jump: Mai performs a large upward javelin thrust that launches herself and enemies into the air.
    • [Ground] Up + Attack: Bypass Ayanishiki and use Ayanishiki『Dipper』immediately.
    • Ayanishiki『Dipper』now draws in enemies.
  • Ayanishiki『Blaze』: [Ground] Hold Attack > Skill: Mai performs a quick forward Javelin thrust that gains more SP than normal. MP:25
    • [Ground] Hold Attack > Hold Skill: Mai will now slowly advance forward, dealing constant damage while draining her MP. MP:25
    • [Ground] Hold Attack > Skill/Hold Skill > Mash Skill: Mai will transition immediately into Flurry of the Winter Moon, bypassing Thousand Spears. *Not listed in Mai's Potentials.
