Overview

Arriving in style, Hazama is BlazBlue Entropy Effect's second DLC character. Brandishing his signature butterfly knives and wielding the powerful Nox Nyctores: Ouroboros, Hazama will fly across the screen while slashing hundreds of times. Not limited to just his knives, Hazama has several attacks that have a snake-like appearance and enormous range or speed. Utilizing Jormungandr to drain the MP of enemies he is attacking, Hazama is extremely MP efficient and has a seemingly endless supply of MP to devastate his opponents.

Prototype Abilities

Talent: Gaze of the Serpent

Dealing damage while close to an enemy while increase your overall damage from far away by +20%. Dealing while far away will increase your overall damage while close by +20%. The buff lasts 4 seconds and both can be active at the same time. A dynamic Talent that is perfect for Hazama who is constantly weaving in and out of the enemy's range to capitalize on his excellent movement. While it can be hard for some Prototypes to use it, any that can attack from afar consistently will appreciate this small damage buff.

Unique Mechanics:

Jormungandr and MP Absorption: Hazama specializes in absorbing MP from enemies to allow him to continuously use his Universal Skills and SP Skills. The first way this is done is through Jormungandr. Holding Skill will release the Jormungandr ring which will continuously absorb MP from enemies within its radius. Later, this will increase the MP absorption rate of your Universal Skills that hit within its radius as well. Upgrading your Universal Enhancements will contribute to his Hidden Effects, making it so many of his Universal Skills and Attacks will become completely MP self-sufficient.

Ouroboros: Ouroboros is Hazama's main movement gimmick. After unlocking "Pressing Any Direction + Action again before Ouroboros returns will drag Hazama toward the end of the chain", you will be able to travel anywhere the chain can reach which having Dodge Frames. While initially, this may seem a bit useless on its own, the myriad of Hidden Effects that Hazama can unlock will turn it into a versatile movement, combo, and counter tool. Once unlocking "Venomous Bite", Hazama gains full Invincible Dodge Frames while also being able to trigger a strong counterattack if he is attacked while swinging. Mix that with his increased MP absorption and Hazama can go completely un-killable as long as you are able to main his SP regeneration through MP absorption. Many of the upgrades from Potentials and Hidden Effects require tricky input combinations, most requiring you to hold the Action button while mashing or clicking Attack and/or Skill. While changing the controller layout may help ease the use of these moves, these combinations are much easier to hit when playing on keyboard as you can set the keys to whatever layout you need without sacrificing one button for another.

Legacy Skill 1: Jormungandr

Activates the Jormungandr aura around your Prototype. Enemies within its ring will have their HP and MP stolen and given to your Prototype. The duration and absorption rate increases with each level. Because this Legacy Skill only mimics Hazama's very basic form of Jormungandr, the MP absorption rate is very low. While it can be increased in Transcendence mode, it will not make a large impact on your gameplay.

Legacy Skill 2: Ouroboros

Releases the Ouroboros chain in the direction you are holding. Holding the Legacy button will drag an enemy hit by the chain toward you, while tapping the Legacy button will instead drag you toward the end of the chain. Hitting an enemy with the chain will reduce the cooldown time. Damage increases and cooldown decreases with each level. While this may seem awkward, this Legacy Skill gives every character in the game a form of good vertical movement. Lacking any of the potential combinations that Hazama has, using this Legacy Skill for movement instead will provide more value.

Potentials

Jump: Default is two jumps.

Dash: Hazama slides forward. Hazama has Dash Invulnerability while Dashing.

  • [Airborne] Mash Attack: Hazama repeatedly swings his knives in a short range in front of him.
  • [Ground] Dash > Attack: Hazama slides across the ground and performs a very low slashing attack, tripping enemies.
  • Shadow Serpent: [Airborne] Down + Dash: Hazama descends rapidly with a falling hatchet kick, bouncing slightly off the ground to become [Airborne] again after landing. Hold Dash to not bounce. Hazama has Dash Invulnerability during Shadow Serpent.
  • While airborne, Hazama can Jump or Dash to reset the attack limit of his [Airborne] Attacks.
  • Hazama can now Triple Jump. When he gets hit, he can jump to recover immediately and become invincible for 1 second.
  • Hazama can now Triple Dash.

Hidden Effects

Hold Attack: Hazama swipes downward, which drags enemies in.

  • Serpent's Benediction: Hold Attack: Holding Attack during Vengeful Viper will put Hazama in the Serpent's Benediction Stance (SBS), which unlocks new attacks and movement options.
    • Devouring Fang: SBS > Attack: Hazama slashes upward with his knives, sending a shockwave forward.
    • Rising Fang: SBS > Up + Attack: Hazama performs an upward kick which leaves him [Airborne] and breaks Super Armor.
    • Falling Fang: SBS > Down + Attack: Hazama does a short front flip forward, kicking in front of him, which breaks Super Armor.
    • Serpent's Redemption: SBS > Left/Right + Dash: Hazama can dash during SBS, which he now has Invincible Dodge Frames during this dash. Dashing during SBS will maintain the Stance and using Devouring Fang, Rising Fang, or Falling Fang will maintain the Dash momentum while gaining the Invincible Dodge State during the attack.
  • Pressing Action will put Hazama into the SBS immediately.
  • Vengeful Viper no longer has an [Airborne] Attack limit.

Hidden Effects

Unlocks multiple new moves.

  • [Ground] Up + Attack: Hazama performs a 3 hit combo with his knives. The 2nd and 3rd hit will send enemies up.
  • [Airborne] Up + Attack: Hazama performs a quick kick upward, during which he has Invincibility Frames.
  • [Ground] Down + Attack: Hazama performs a unique 3 hit combo. The 1st attack has Invincibility Frames, the 2nd has Dodge Frames, and the 3rd will throw Hazama's knives forward.
  • [Airborne] Down + Attack: Hazama performs a large circular slash below him.
  • Universal Attacks can cancel other actions quicker.

Hidden Effects

Skill: Hazama rises with a kick, then performs a lunging kick forward. On each hit, absorbs a set amount of MP. MP:100

  • Hazama has brief amounts Invincibility Frames while using Skill.
  • Skill > Skill: Pressing Skill again will perform an additional attack before performing the lunging kick.
    • Skill > Skill > Skill > Mash Attack: Pressing Skill for the lunging kick, and then mashing Attack will cause Hazama to rapidly kick the enemy while they're on the ground. The stomp will continuously drain MP. *Obtained with the Potential above.
  • Jormungandr: Hold Skill: Hazama summons the Jormungandr ring, which will absorb the HP of enemies within its range.
    • Jormungandr's radius is increased.

Hidden Effects

[Ground] Up + Skill: Hazama gains temporary Invincibility Frames and performs a large attack upward that breaks Super Armor. MP:100

  • Serpent's Infernal Rapture can be activated while [Airborne].
  • Expands the range of the attack.

Hidden Effects

[Ground] Down + Skill: Hazama attaches several chains to the ground before releasing a large amount of shockwaves upward. SP:50

  • SP: Earn SP when absorbing MP.
  • Holding Skill will continuously drain SP, which increases the range and damage of Horde of Hungry Souls.

Any Direction + Action: Hazama fires a chain in the direction held. The chain will absorb MP when hitting an enemy. SP:50

  • SP: Earn SP when absorbing MP.
  • Ouroboros > Same Direction + Action: Hazama drags himself toward the end of the chain, during which he has Dodge Frames.
    • Venomous Bite: Hazama now has Invincible Dodge Frames when pulling himself. If Hazama dodges damage during this, he will perform a counterattack.
    • Holding Action after Hazama pulls himself will cause him to continue swing around the end of the chain.
  • Hungry Coils: Ouroboros > Hold Action: Hazama will drag any enemies hit by Ouroboros toward him. If the enemy cannot be dragged, he will send an attack across the entire chain.
  • Eternal Coils of the Dragon Serpent: Hungry Coils > Mash Skill: Hazama will perform several quick slashes to the grabbed enemy.

Hidden Effects

Universal Enhancements affect multiple moves.

  • Improves the absorption rates of Universal Skills.
  • Universal Attacks now have a MP absorption effect.
  • Before Hazama's Universal Attacks hit, pressing Skill will consume MP to enhance the Attack. MP:25
  • Adds additional hits to Hazama's knife attacks.
  • Decreases the recovery time after using Hazama's Universal Skills.

Hidden Effects

  • (Jormungandr, Serpent's Infernal Rapture, and Universal Enhancement: Improved MP absorption on Universal Skills): The MP absorption rate of Jormungandr and Serpent's Infernal Rapture.
  • (Jormungandr, Serpent's Infernal Rapture, and Universal Enhancement: Improved MP absorption on Universal Skills + Universal Attacks can absorb MP): Increases the MP absorption rate of Hazama's Universal Skills to the maximum.
  • (Universal Enhancement: Press Skill before Universal Attacks hit + Additional hits to knife Attacks): Enhanced Attacks using knives will hit even more times. Attacks that don't use Hazama's knives that are enhanced deal more damage.
  • (Universal Enhancement: Universal Attacks absorb MP + Press Skill before Universal Attacks hit + Additional hits to knife Attacks): Further increases the MP absorption rate of Universal Attacks.
  • (Universal Enhancement: Improved MP absorption rate on Hazama's Universal Skills + Universal Attacks absorb MP + Press Skill before Universal Attacks hit + Additional hits to knife Attacks): Increases the MP absorption rate of Universal Attacks to the maximum.
  • (Serpent's Snare: Universal Attacks can cancel other actions quicker and Universal Enhancement: Decreased recovery time on Universal Skills): Jormungandr's recovery time is reduced. The Serpent's Unholy Wrath will not disappear if it's interrupted.
